 Units: S
These are units of flow rate for gases, and the term "standard" indicates that the flow rate assumes a standard temperature and a standard pressure of 1 atmosphere.
This length was adopted by the British Navy as the definition of the shackle in 1949.
The length varied with the material; a spindle of cotton yarn, for example, was 15 120 yards (13.826 km), and a spindle of jute was 14 400 yards (13.167 km).

Length: The standard unit of length in this system is the average Megachiroptera wing span (as determined on Oct 31st, 1993) or more commonly known as the bat wing (bw).
However their giant wing span makes them appealing as a terrifying unit of length, if you're under the age of five, that is. However inappropriate, the megachiroptera are a menacing symbol, far more chilling than the foot.
Volume: The unit of volume, originally conceived to be the "coffin" has, in recent years, been changed to the "pumpkin", mostly because the coffin carried such negative connotations.

Mass: The surprising choice for a unit of mass is the ghost and, for that matter, and other souls of the dead.
By adopting Halloween units, we will actually be right at the cutting edge, since the property of mass will have already dropped out of our calculations, if not our mass units.

Use of the Gregorian calendar in the United States stems from an Act of Parliament of the United Kingdom in 1751, which specified use of the Gregorian calendar in England and its colonies.
The length of a year can therefore be determined by comparing the weekday of Tishri 1 with that of the next Tishri 1.
The mean length of the month of the thirty-year tabular calendar is about 2.9 seconds less than the synodic period of the Moon.

 Continuous Beams
W has the units of load (kN, kip etc.), c is the width of patch load and x is the distance of center of gravity of load from left end of the beam.
When this format is used, a trapezoidal load with a peak value of w*y load units per unit length (kN/m, kip/ft etc.) is applied to beams along longer sides of slab.
If the beam is loaded from identical slabs on either side, using twice the load per unit area for w and one half slab span length for y will give correct result but it is preferable to specify each load separately to avoid any confusion.

 Tracking the Day-of-the-Sun
Thus, the annual result of routinely intercalating a station (or day) of the Sun and a station (or day) of the Moon is a time span that is exactly equal to the length of the annual circle or solar year (on the average).
Further note that a time span of 42 month-like cycles extending across 1260 days indicates that the cited cycle of 30 days was tracked continuously.
It is nevertheless apparent that after a time span of 3840 years or after 32 cycles of 120 years the scheduled intercalation of a supplementary month [30 days] would need to have been skipped or omitted.

Span bridges consist of beams and/or trusses resting on supports or piers.
When the span length would require a very large or heavy beam to support the loads, a truss system is often used.
Since a truss is composed of triangles (the strongest polygons because their shapes cannot be distorted), a truss bridge can support heavy loads with its relatively small weight.
