A Spanophone or Hispanophone is someone that speaks the Spanish language either natively or by adoption.
Spanophone areas include Spain (where the language originates) and most of Latin America.
There is a sizable Spanophone minority in the United States comprising nearly 12% of the total population (about 30 million people) as well as smaller Spanophone groups in Canada, northern Morrocco, Equatorial Guinea, and the Philippines, the latter three being former colonies of Spain.

It has been proposed below that Spanophone be renamed and moved to Hispanophone.
Hispania was the name given by the Romans to the Iberian Peninsula, and to two of the three provinces they created there: Hispania Baetica and Hispania Tarraconensis (the third being Lusitania).
Latin America consists of the countries of South America and some of North America (including Central America and some the islands of the Caribbean) whose inhabitants mostly speak Romance languages, although Native American languages are also spoken.

We also covered the matter of Francophone and Anglophone again and I elaborated that even though it was in the dictionary (the host had brought one to show me wrong) it was a recent acceptance into the French dictionary and it was indeed an invention of the separatist.
They are not legitimate words; otherwise there would also be words to cover all the other linguistic groups such as germaphone, russaphone, spanophone, and all the others.
And the host added: yes and chinaphone, etc. (He understood my point, but I am not sure that anyone else did)

Student, the US does mess up with the term latin, hispanic and African and it becomes confusing for foreigners who are introduced to that concept.
So if you are asking if a Brazilian is LATINO (american) term I would say that it isn't true because s/he isn't a "Spanophone".
