This album starts with the awesome "Symptom of the Universe" which was originally on Sabbath's Sabotage album.
All the previous albums I had bought (No More Tears, Diary of a Madman, etc.)were all almost identical because the whole set of Ozzy albums were remastered in 2000 (or 2001 or 2002).

Speak of the Devil does not buck Isaak's downward spiral or his tendency toward depressing anti-love songs.
Isaak sings, "Monday was the day we met/ Tuesday I was flying/ Wednesday she was far away/ Friday caught me crying." "Flying," like many of the tracks on Speak of the Devil, borrows (or steals) tunes from some of Isaak's earlier works (especially from Forever Blue).

On "Speak of the Devil," the always fanciful Isaak continues to delve into the many facets of love affairs and seems to particularly enjoy crooning about those gone bad.
Though "Speak of the Devil" may have come to fruition in a sophisticated studio, Isaak is decidedly and very proudly low-tech.

Those who looked for hints in the record that link the Beatles to the cult of Satan noted the opening lines of the theme song, "It was 20 years ago today." It was argued that the subject of the song was the death of Aleister Crowley, exactly 20 years earlier, on December 1, 1947.
The Satanic clue-hunters were not deterred by the fact that the album had already been released on June 1, 1967.
But apparently what really led to Crowley's appearance on the album cover was what also led the raters at the BBC to select him three years ago as one of the most influential Britons of the 20th century.

Speak of the Devil by Ozzy Osbourne
Ozzy Osbourne : Albums : Speak of the Devil : Summary
The show itself took on an ominous tone with a chair visibly propped up on the edge of the stage; upon it rested a spiral notebook containing the lyrics to all the Sabbath songs of the evening, from which Ozzy read throughout the show.
Still, Speak of the Devil is strengthened by the classic combo of Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge on bass and drums, undoubtedly one the best rhythm sections of Ozzy's solo career.

REVIEW   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-04)
There are subtle hints of surprise on the album, but the singer still shows a knack for plaintive-sweet warblings a la Roy Orbison and a seductively sinister Elvis impression that is completely like the Isaak of old.
But also on the album are welcome nuances of uncovered territory, like the surf-y instrumental "Super Magic 2000", which sounds something akin to if the Pixies' Frank Black had been obsessed with the Wild West instead of space aliens.
"Speak of the Devil" builds into a rollicking rock song wherein Isaak lets loose with the crooning wail more evident in his looser live shows.

Isaak is a guy's guy because he gets to embrace a supermodel, but he's also a girl's guy, because he does it in such a moodily romantic way.

The album is probably half and half in terms of the mopey songs and true love songs.

Ozzy had to release one more album before this could happen (thus "Speak of the Devil" was a purposly low-budget project, a live recording done at the Ritz in New York on Sept. 26th and 27th) and even then the couple had to pay Sharon's father 1.5 million dollars to purchase the contract.
One of the conditions for the transfer of Ozzy's contract from Don to Sharon was that she get him to enroll in the Betty Ford center for his drinking problems.
