		From the moment Speakerboxxx kicks into gear with "GhettoMusick" and its relentless blend of old-school 808s and breakneck breakbeats, it's clear that Boi is ignoring boundaries, and the rest of his album follows suit.
		Big Boi's Speakerboxxx is a hop, skip, and a jump from the latter's funky synth workouts, machine-gun drum patterns, ball-breaking bass, and rat-a-ta-tat rhyming.
		But Speakerboxxx doesn't quite achieve the transcendence of Stankonia -- the hooks aren't there, and neither is their earlier albums' sense of risk and possibility.

		Since this is not the case, Speakerboxxx drags The Love Below down (pardon the pun).

		While “Speakerboxxx” is more of a typical Southern hip-hop album, Big Boi’s maturity is evident.
		Big Boi’s “Speakerboxxx” is also entertaining but does not have the innovative quality of the past Outkast releases.

		The Isaac Hayes guitar and Kool & The Gang horns of “The Rooster” beautifully bridge the gap between hardcore rap and solid gold soul; “War” criticizes the 2000 presidential election over a throwback break; “Bowtie” is likely the funkiest track of OutKast’s career.
		Speakerboxxx is the innovative hip-hop smorgasbord listeners have come to expect, and it’s the perfect counterweight to Dre’s zany brilliance.

		Speakerboxxx is a classic Outkast album in style, while The Love Below is a 360 Degree turn.
		Speakerboxxx is the more similar to an older Outkast album but its not nearly as good and not only becuase of Dre's absence.
		Anyways, back to Speakerboxxx, i also think it was too short as a whole album, due to little skits in between songs and that annoying "speakerboxxx" techno sounding whatever-it-was thing.

		Speakerboxxx sticks to a little more tried and true form.
		In the end, Speakerboxxx reigns supreme but I would have to say that I think this collection could have easily been a single album.

		The Love Below, André 3000's disc, is the big offender on this score; it worships the P.Funk and the Prince funk and the indie rock and the drum'n'bass and the Broadway ballad, no two tracks sound anywhere like each other in the least.
		The other disc, Big Boi's Speakerboxxx, runs more than 20 minutes shorter, but manages to essay straight-up hip-hop, smooth soul with rapping, rock with rapping, gospel with rapping, songs with horns and strings and hella guest appearances, wild, out of control, messy like a two-year-old.
		Speakerboxxx is by far the most consistent of the two.

		But overall, I thought their latest release was inconsistent and, on several levels, disappointing.
		My main problem with this two-disc set (Speakerboxxx is Big Boi’s contribution; The Love Below represents Andre 3000’s) is that many of the cuts start on one groove then, after you’re hooked on that initial groove, they do an about-face and go in a completely different direction.
		This release only certifies my belief that all you need is a couple great tracks to make any CD successful.

		The album begins with radio ga-ga, static and dial turning glitches that fade into female voices that chant "Speakerboxxx" (you will hear from these ladies time and time again throughout the album) while fast break rhythms cascade underneath.
		Then the "speakerboxxx" females return, ending the album with the words that sucked us into the mix in the first place.
		It could have been much tighter had he excised all the interludes and pulled in the reigns on the use of the female "Speakerboxxx" drops that frequent the empty spaces between tracks.

		I think the highs in The Love Below outshine those in the aforementioned, but I think Speakerboxxx is more consistently good from song to song.
		Seriously, they are the only hip hop group (in the mainstream) that aren't disposable.

		The new release picks up where "Stankonia" left off, with the duo writing rhymes and composing soulful grooves that get listeners thinkin' and booty-shakin' at the same time.
		What makes "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below" different from previous Outkast releases though, is that it's actually broken into 2 different discs, one featuring Big Boi ("Speakerboxxx") and the other featuring Andre 3000 ("The Love Below"), hence the large number of new tracks.
		Although "Speakerboxxx" seems more vocals-driven, there's also some heavy jazz and funk influence, making each track filled to the rim with sound.

		I prefer Andre 3000's The Love Below, because I think the songs are more original than Bigboi's Speakerboxxx.
		However, that's not to say that Speakerboxxx doesn't have great stuff on it.
		I haven't heard the full albums, but I get the sense that Andre 3000's is better.

		I think the greatest failing of this effort -- and it's a minor "greatest" -- is that it sits exactly at the cross-streets of hip hop and rap.
		One on kitty-corner, you've got Andre Benjamin's THE LOVE BELOW, and on the other it's Antwan Patterson's SPEAKERBOXXX.
		I'm not going to get into the semantics of hip hop's definition except to say 'BOXXX is a more logical extension of the path of Outkast whereas 'BELOW is entirely something else -- oddly, I feel 'BELOW is deeper entrenched in hip hop while 'BOXXX is less so.
