Billington appeared in numerous TV series, and played Daniel Fogarty in The Onedin Line (1971-1974) and Colour-Sergeant "Jacko" Jackson in Spearhead (1978), but he reached his biggest international audience as Sergei Barsov, the Soviet agent who pursues Bond and is killed by 007 at the beginning of The Spy Who Loved Me.
Michael Billington, the star of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's live-action TV series UFO (1970-73) and James Bond's would-be assassin in The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), has died, age 63.
UFO shared a premise with the Anderson's puppet series Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons (1967-68), with Earth threatened by alien invaders and defended by a powerful secret organisation, and in this case, it was SHADO – Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organisation.

Season 6B - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Season 6B (also Season 6 (b)) refers to a popular fan theory related to the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who.
An example of fanon, it is a hypothetical season that takes place between the last episode of The War Games (1969), the last serial of Season 6, and the first episode of Spearhead from Space (1970), which opened Season 7.
This resulted in the exile which began in Spearhead from Space.

Target Practice #082: Doctor Who - Mawdryn Undead
The Brigadier's flashback on pages 43 and 44 is different from that on TV, featuring his 'memories' from The Web of Fear, The Invasion, Spearhead from Space, Day of the Daleks, Robot, and The Three Doctors.
Grimwade takes care of a small goof from the TV version: when Nyssa and Tegan find Mawdryn, his face is 'ravaged beyond all recognition' and his voice has been reduced to a 'ghastly rattle' (making him harder to identify as the Doctor or not).
It's not the easiest story to follow, and I'll quickly admit the UNIT dating is very strange, but it's a good solid time travel story (which for Doctor Who, while strangely enough a series all about time travel, is not very common!).

The late 1970s UK TV drama 'Spearhead' tried to show what life in the British Army was like at the time.
At the start of the series, lead character Sergeant 'Jacko' Jackson (Michael Billington) is commanding a section of the recce platoon attached to B Company, during a tour of Northern Ireland.
The programme has an almost documentary-like style; series writer Nick McCarty had visited the Army in Northern Ireland to research the programme, and was determined to 'tell it like it is', including an Army Adviser as part of the production team.

Amazon.com: Doctor Who: Spearhead From Space / TV Show (1975) : Video
Spearhead from Space was a strong start for the Jon Pertwee era, and for a period running through the Pertwee era into the mid-Tom Baker era which many fans of the classic series recall as the Golden Age of Doctor Who --This text refers to the DVD edition
In addition to being Jon Pertwee's debut as the Third Doctor, Spearhead was also the first DW story in color, opening Season Seven after six years in black and white only.
This adventure, along with all of Jon Pertwee's adventures as the Doctor stand the tests of time, as it never feels in any way dated or time frame specific, considering it is the 1970's, but you never feel as if it is the 1970's in anyway.

theLogBook.com DVD Reviews - Doctor Who: Spearhead From Space
I can't overstate the good work done by the Doctor Who Restoration Team on the actual episodes themselves; the video quality is crisp, bright and colorful, and the end result is definitely on par with recently-remastered DVDs of other filmed TV series from the era (namely The Prisoner).
The BBC's range of Doctor Who DVDs finally hits its stride with this title, the third to be released.
The menus are easy to navigate, and they feature an easter egg I have yet to be able to reach: a selection of test footage from the effects recording sessions for the show's main titles.
