 Welcome to English Time
English, second only to Chinese for the number of people who speak it, and second to no other for the number of people who are learning it, is a language that anyone, and everyone, can use to communicate.
In English, both spoken and written, it is usual to use personal pronouns (I, you, we, they, he, she, it) when the context is already understood, or could easily be understood by reading the sentences that follow.
For example, one does not normally use the word ‘she’ to refer to somebody if the person reading or hearing the sentence does not know who his or her partner is referring to.

Special English was developed nearly 50 years ago as a radio experiment to spread American news and cultural information to people outside the United States who have no knowledge of English or whose knowledge is limited.

But at home, the Special English branch at Voice of America would support the use of its programming for recent immigrants in a bilingual model if the law did not prohibit it.

BUSINESS ENGLISH COURSES, EXAMINATION ENGLISH, ENGLISH TESTS AND EXAMS
The people for whom business English is most useful are probably those who are already working in businesses where English is necessary for some part of their work, and who have therefore had the opportunity to see what they can and can't do effectively in English.
However, the English emphasis in these cases is a little different; such people need to study the world of business at the same time as they are learning the language - they are learning business in English, rather than English for business.
In relation to the business world, English for Special Purposes would deal more with the terminology and expression which is specific to one particular area of business - and sometimes even to one task, such as producing the company's annual report.

Special Beat Service sparkles with surprising touches that might sound incongruous were it not for the Beat's ability to make them sound perfectly right.

After the publication of Michael Ondaatje's Booker-Prize-winning "English Patient," conventional wisdom soon held that the novel, while a masterpiece of fiction, was entirely untransferable to any other medium: too intricately layered seemed its narrative structure; too significant its protagonists' inner life; too rich its symbolism.
"The English Patient" is an epic tale of love and loss; of ownership, belonging and the bars erected thereto.
