CITES Appendices   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-15)
Appendix III is a list of species included at the request of a Party that already regulates trade in the species and that needs the cooperation of other countries to prevent unsustainable or illegal exploitation (see Article II, paragraph 3, of the Convention).
Species may be added to or removed from Appendix I and II, or moved between them, only by the Conference of the Parties, either at its regular meetings or by postal procedures (see Article XV of the Convention).
But species may be added to or removed from Appendix III at any time and by any Party unilaterally (although the Conference of the Parties has recommended that changes be timed to coincide with amendments to Appendices I and II).

Splashy special effects are all fine and good, but they work much better in a film that doesn't rely on them to hide a thin script.
"Species II" manages to keep Henstridge in her clothes most of the time, but Lazard and his bevy of beauties get naked a lot.
I wasn't thrilled with "Species II," and judging by the film's lukewarm reception, neither did most of the fans of the first film.

INKPOT MOVIE REVIEWS: SPECIES (Rebecca Wan)
But where SPECIES stuck fairly closely to the "predator aliens are destroying us one by one and have to be stopped" type of storyline, SPECIES II is plagued by a ratty plot that trips over too many loose ends, loses its way and degenerates into a wan mix of erotica and grotesque imagery.
The latter in SPECIES is configured as destructive and physically repulsive, culminating in the disfiguring death of the mother, even as the child alien is born.
It is not a coincidence, therefore, that the birthing process in SPECIES II is particularly demonized.

 Species II (1998): Reviews
"Species" at least had the benefit of Henstridge's glazed porn-doll perversity, but this time any glimmers of sexual ominousness are buried in a lame, desultory chase plot and in the woefully underimagined special effects.
Though Species II is far from serious and aimed squarely at the hairy-palmed, it really didn't need to be quite this rotten.
Shoddily plotted and unimaginative, Species II is a slapdash effort at best, creepily unaffecting and minus the T&A this sort of film so desperately hinges on.

EPA: Federal Register: Request for Species Amendments and Resolutions for Considera
The term ``species'' is defined in CITES as ``any species, subspecies, or geographically separate population thereof.'' Each species for which trade is controlled is included in one of three appendices, either as a separate listing or incorporated within the listing of a higher taxon.
Appendix II also lists species that must be subject to regulation in order that trade in those currently and potentially threatened species may be brought under effective control.
Proposals to transfer a species from Appendix I to Appendix II, or to remove a species from Appendix II, must be consistent with the new precautionary measures described in Annex 4 of Conf.

Species II is such a pathetic movie that it uses exessive gore in favor of cheap thrills.
Species II begins with the first manned mission to Mars.

 Species II
With few exceptions, sequels tend to be worse than the films that spawned them, but the fact that Species II is a follow-up isn't the only reason it's so miserable.
It's the predictable storyline, the cardboard characters, the banal dialogue, the failed attempts at humor, the revolting special effects, the gratuitous nudity (all female, of course), the bad acting, and the bland direction.
The plot, simply geared at getting the alien species back on planet earth so that it can reak some more havoc, involves three astronauts landing on Mars and inadvertently bringing some alien slime in a soil sample back aboard their shuttle.

The Marine Species and Aquaculture Research Centre (CICEM) in Santa María, Cádiz, is working on an innovative research programme to breed two marine species, borriquete (Plectorhynchus mediterraneus) and redbanded seabream (Pagrus auriga).
According to CICEM the viability of these two species – in terms of quality, price and farming potential - represents an important milestone and raises hopes for future aquaculture development.
Although there is more information on the biology of redbanded seabream in its natural environment, efforts to reproduce this species in captivity had not been successful until now.

 Species II Movie Review
Despite being nothing more than being a derivative "Alien"-wannabe-B-movie-with-lots-of-nudity, the original "Species" did have one thing going for it-- the portrayal of Sil's learning process, in which she struggled with her identity, came to understand her environment, and learned how to move among human beings.
"Species" was also interesting in its dissection of the 'dating and mating' game, as Sil encountered different social situations as she followed her agenda of procreation.
"Species II" has none of this cultural probing, and despite the dramatic possibilities of inner turmoil arising from being changed from within (which Cronenberg's "The Fly" did so well), little exploration is done on the metamorphosis that Ross and Eve undergo, the effects on their psyche, or how they relate to those around them.
