Process and apparatus for analyzing a sample by emission spectrography - Patent 4191475
The present invention relates to a process for analysing a sample by emission spectrography in which a laser beam is directed onto the sample with a sufficient intensity to volatilize, ionize and excite the bodies constituting the said sample.
In general, in emission spectrography applied to solid bodies such as metals, one of the bodies to be studied constitutes an electrode and an electrical current is passed between two electrodes which volatilizes and excites the atoms of the constituent or body which it is desired to analyse.
However, emission spectrography by arc (or by spark, which is a very similar process and well known to the skilled expert) has certain disadvantages and certain limitations of use.

PART II: THE MEDICAL/BALLISTICS EVIDENCE, Chapter 3, Suppressed Spectrography, "PRESUMED GUILTY", 1976
This conclusive evidence is the spectrographic comparison made between the metallic compositions of the projectiles found outside of the victims and the bits of metal removed from the wounds themselves.
His field was ballistics and firearms identification, and while he might have supplemented his findings with those from other fields, he was not qualified in spectrography, which entails expertise in physics and chemistry.
Because this report is not part of the public records, we have no way of determining whether Frazier accurately related the results of the analyses, or whether the report upon which he based his testimony was competent, complete, or satisfactory.

 1. Terrific telescopes
As we'll see, much of the cutting edge of astronomy concerns spectrography -- the analysis of light waves to see (among other things) which chemicals are present in the light's source.
Spectrography has been around for almost 100 years, and as it improves, scientists want to look more precisely at specific wavelengths.
But just as a gambler who divvies his winnings among 10 backers gives less to each one than a poker player who has only two backers, high-class spectrography makes fewer photons available at each wavelength.

Atoms of an isotope of an element all have the same atomic mass.
Atomic masses are usually determined by mass spectrography (see mass spectrograph).
They have been determined with great relative accuracy, but their absolute value is less certain.

It would be quite easy to change the scanning rate of the camera so as to produce a drift, provided the disperser (prism) is oriented correctly.
However, I do believe that dispersion is another way of seeing the problem of spectrography for TASS.

Current radiodetection methods have been inadequate for such a search, as the resolution afforded by recent technology is inadequate for detailed study of extrasolar planetary objects.
Future telescopes should be able to image planets around nearby stars, which may reveal the presence of life (either directly or through spectrography which would reveal key information such as the presence of free oxygen in a planet's atmosphere).
The Terrestrial Planet Finder is one NASA programme on the horizon that has generated optimism over the potential discovery of habitable planets.

Whenever we read some astronomical magazines or literature we recognized how important spectrography is for our understanding of the universe.
Most of our knowledge about the visible sky was gained by spectrometry because the only way to get any information about a specific stars is to analyse the light it sends out.
If you're interested in star spectrography look at Ernst Pollmann's homepage or contact the VdS (Verband der Sternfreunde e.V.) for further information.

I think I need to get a private discourse going to clear things up, so I'm asking if anyone is knowledgeable and willing to answer some of my pressing questions?
