  spectroscopic dating of wood
Infrared spectroscopic analysis identifies the molecules present in ivory enabling the inorganic substances to be clearly distinguished from the organic ones (Fig.1).
Spectroscopic analysis is not precise because chemical changes depend on the humidity and temperature of the environment.
Spectroscopic dating is carried out with instruments which are basic equipment for the chemical industry and the health and research sectors.

 Spectroscopic Analysis with Neural Networks
StellarNet Inc.'s moniker is "Intelligence from Light" -- an intriguingly cryptic way of describing the spectroscopic technology the Florida firm developed to optically analyse objects and substances.
StellarNet's Spectroscope bathes or permeates the sample being investigated with various lights, generating optical patterns called "spectra".
Designed to identify the object or substance itself and/or the presence and concentrations of various components, Spectroscope uses a BrainMaker neural network in its SpectraNet application to process the spectral data and make the appropriate recognition in real time.

Optical coherence tomography contrast enhancement using spectroscopic analysis with spectral autocorrelation
Enhanced tissue contrast in developmental biology specimens is demonstrated in vivo using a new type of spectroscopic optical coherence tomography analysis that is insensitive to spectroscopic noise sources.
The technique is based on a statistical analysis of spectral modulation at each image pixel, and provides contrast based on both the intensity of the backscattered light and the distribution of scattering particle sizes.
Since the technique does not analyze optical power at absolute wavelengths, it is insensitive to all spectroscopic noise that appears as local Doppler shifts.

Mathcad: Mass-Spectroscopic Analysis of Mixtures   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-15)
The mass-spectroscopic analysis of mixtures of gases is based on the fact that a given component contributes to a given peak independently of the other components.
In other words these contributions are additive, and the total peak height is the sum of all contributions from the components that form an ion that gives such a mass to charge ratio.
When the r and s values have been determined, the analysis of an unknown mixture can be performed by forming a set of simulatenous equations from the peak heights.
