  FFT Spectrum Analyser
This demonstration is similar to the FFT spectrum analyser demo applet.
The difference is that instead of choosing the input signal to the spectrum analyser from a limited selection of waveform types, you can define your own arbitrary waveform by typing in the mathematical expression which describes the input waveform.
The waveform generator is implemented in JavaScript and the sampled values of your waveform are passed to the Java applet, which plots the signal, performs the FFT calculations, and plots the frequency spectrum.

  Spectrum Analyzer - Microwave Encyclopedia - Microwaves101.com
Some pulsed RF signal parameters parameters that can be determined directly on a spectrum analyzer include PRF (pulse repetition frequency), PRI (pulse repetition interval, which is the reciprocal of PRF), pulse width, duty cycle, peak and average pulsed power, and the on/off ratio of the modulator.
A line spectrum (as opposed to a pulsed spectrum) is an actual Fourier representation of a pulsed RF signal in the frequency domain; all the spectral components of the signal are fully resolved.
Using the pulse spectrum enables a wider resolution bandwidth to be used.

 Using a Spectrum Analyzer - Radio-Electronics.Com
Spectrum analysers or analyzers are an invaluable item of electronic test equipment used in the design, test and maintenance of radio frequency circuitry and equipment.
Thus a spectrum analyser will display the amplitude of signals on the vertical scale, and the frequency of the signals on the horizontal scale.
The spectrum analyser operates by scanning the required frequency span from the low to the high end of the required range.

PC-Based Spectrum Analyser   (Site not responding. Last check: )
The spectrum Analyser displays the real-time picture of frequency spectrum of the input signal showing both vector components and their amplitude relationship.
The Spectrum Analyser can be a very powerful machine without becoming a very expensive unit, as the power of the analyser comes from the Personal Computer algorithms, which can be enhanced without adding large amounts of hardware to the analyser.
The spectrum analyser is inbuilt with a swept oscillator or a Tracking generaro which is a signal source, has an output whose frequency same as the swept frequency of the Analyser.

DesignContest.net :: Flash Tutorial- How to build an Audio Spectrum Analyzer v.2 ...
Spectrum Analyser v.2 is a revised version which has a better performance then the one I published in flashkit, but the mechanism is the same in both tutorials.
The spectrum analyser we are about to build here is NOT a realtime analyser, All the spectrum data are pre-recorded, processed and dumped into flash.
Spectrum data is a row of numbers separated by commas, their value range from -199 to 0 which represents the amplitude of specific frequency bands, these numbers are recorded in a log file at predefined intervals.

Pico Application - Pico - Spectrum
Swept spectrum analyzers work by using one or more notch filters (or mixers) to measure the signal amplitude at a given frequency, by changing (or sweeping) the frequency of this filter a plot of amplitude against frequency can be constructed.
Swept spectrum analyzers still have their place in high frequency spectrum analysis, but for audio work they have the disadvantage that the signal must be constant for the whole period of the sweep.
Plotting such a frequency response is not possible with many FFT spectrum analysers as they take a quick snapshot of the signal then take several seconds processing and displaying the results, the result tends to be that only one frequency peak gets captured during the sweep.

 Design of a Spectrum Analyser - Radio-Electronics.Com
It enables the spectrum of a signal to be shown, revealing the presence of signals that may not be seen if other test equipment or measuring instruments are used.
The spectrum analyser uses the superhet principle used in many radio receivers as the underlying principle on which its operation depends.
Although the basic concept of the spectrum analyzer is exactly the same as the superhet radio, the particular implementation differs slightly to enable it to perform is function as a spectrum analyzer.

 The simple man's Spectrum Analyser
A spectrum analyser is a very useful piece of test equipment to have on your workbench, yet the price tag of commercially avialable analysers places them way outside most hobbyist budgets, even when 2nd hand.
Construction and alignment of the "simple man's spectrum analyser" is as straight forward as possible.
If the ten spectrum analyser modules are constructed in the suggested order (somewhat different to their logical order as in the block diagram), then each subsequent module can be built and tested using modules already constructed.

RF Trap With Attenuators circuit description   (Site not responding. Last check: )
It is particularly useful when the available spectrum analyser's dynamic range is inadequate to directly measure the very small harmonics required in modern 'digital' communication transmitters.
Attenuators should be selected within the spectrum analyser to give less than -10 dBm at the input to the spectrum analyser input mixer stage when making the measurement.
Either the combined attenuator insertion loss is used to calculate the actual level at the output of the circuit under test or the output is measured using the spectrum analyser offset facility.
