I am curious about how they controll specular in C4D, like when you are texturing a human face, the specular of the lips and other skin areas are not the same.
You can use either the specular color channel or the diffusion channel, but sadly there is no easy way to vary the specular width in Cinema--only the height.
Specular Color is just define the color of the specular area only(like orange color of specular on a blue color material), not about defining the strong or weak area of specular.
