Recycling Bin 08 - Speedster Pogrom (Mar 1999)
If comics scribe Mark Waid had less going for him, one could become downright cranky considering the way he inflated the concept of the speed force to nuisance levels within the DC Universe, and furthermore used it something like a walking hit squad for characters who ignore the speed limits of conventional physics.
Though the comics claim that Barry Allen vanished into the "speed force," the villain low sales really did him in.
However, this dangerous power, variously recorded as "speed force" and "speed field," would become something around which the talented Mark Waid would, in later comics canon, center a number of storylines.

Super-speed cannot be in the first place "taught" since the Flash absorbs the Cheetah's speed as a result of his contact with the Speed Force.
If he were to grab the Cheetah by her tail one of two things should have happened.

Finder Keeper: An interview with Carla Speed McNeil
McNeil is one of the best-known self-publishers, and believes that was her best - and indeed only - route into comics.
Comics were part of her world from an early age, but it wasn't the usual four-colour heroics that caught her eye.
It was a small detail that told Carla Speed McNeil she wanted to be an artist.

Go Speed Racer, go Speed Racer, go Speed Racer, GO-O-O-O! Last - and best - are the comics.
Comics (not to be confused with the ultra-underground "comix") have always been a subversive underground phenomenon, so it's only natural that they'd take to the Net like Aquaman to water.
Comics experts, nay, scholars, congregate on Usenet's rec.arts.comics.misc for Talmudic discussions on the Marvel oeuvre, obscure vintage comic books, and the mind-bending continuity conundrums of parallel universes.

 Superman's Super-Powers
Today Superman can withstand the heat at the core of the sun, soar through the air at a speed thousands of times the speed of light, and extinguish a star with a puff of his breath as though it were merely a candle on a birthday cake.
In January 1960, Superman's super-hearing enables him to trace sound waves to their ultimate source: a space ship millions of miles from Earth (Action Comics #260) and by December of the same year, Superman can hear Big Ben chiming the hour in London while he is in the Sahara Desert.

Taskmaster #4 Review - Silver Bullet Comics
The idea that the Taskmaster used increased tape speed to grant himself a momentary burst of super-fast attacks is a bit shaky from a logic standpoint, but it did make for a rather imaginative use of his powers nevertheless.
The second area would be the scene where the Taskmaster engages in a bit of fast-forward kung-fu, as the blurring effect is put to good use during this sequence to create a sense of speed.
It's a solid issue in that the Taskmaster is presented as a highly competent character, but the ending this issue is given is almost embarrassing in its unwillingness to cross the line that it needed to.

Mammoth plans about $10 million to $15 million worth of on-mountain changes this summer, including a new high-speed, six-person chair out of the Juniper Springs Lodge.

 The Unofficial Flash Biography
The first Flash was able to speed at multiples of the speed of light, had control of his molecular vibration (which he could alter its alignment by vibrating at super-speeds) where he could pass through solid objects and keep his head slightly out of phase to hid his identity.
Quote taken from Flash Comics #5 (May 1940)
He and his wife Joan were both present at the accident which bathed most of the Justice Society with rejuvenating rays, and the two continue to have a close relationship, also being very fond of the current Flash, Wally West and his new wife Linda Park.

ICv2 Talk Back - Now Comics' Tony Caputo Asks What If...? Part III
Speed Racer made the original Now Comics back in 1987 (and in return, Now Comics made Speed Racer a rich intellectual property), this could potentially do the same for many companies and Marvel IP.
Now Comics' Tony Caputo saw the comments by Jim Brocius of Cosmic Comics in Las Vegas (see "Jim Brocius of Cosmic Comics on Marvel Licensing Its Comics") on his essay on Marvel licensing out its comics (see "Now Comics' Tony Caputo Asks What If?"), and has this response:
I can give you a list of a dozen small publishers that I correspond with (because of my how-to book), that wouldn't mind the opportunity to publish a comic book that sold 20,000, or even 10,000 copies per month, let alone a Marvel Comic.
