 Flinders Street Station
Melbourne's two other early central-city stations, Spencer Street Station and Princes Bridge Station, opened in 1859.
The first railway building to occupy the Flinders Street site was simply called Melbourne or City Terminus, and was a collection of weatherboard train sheds.
The Terminus was the first railway station in Australia, and the opening day saw the first mechanical train trip in the country's history.

Back in May, shares tumbled 23 per cent when the first troubles at Spencer Street were revealed and yesterday the stock fell 25c to $8.79 after a broker report hinted at more problems in conjunction with the project.
Investors had been expected to take the knife to Leighton shares following a late announcement yesterday that problems with access, design and weather at Spencer Street would result in the group taking a further $60 million pre-tax hit on top of a $50 million provision announced in May.
