The Spice Girls have plenty of personality, and that helps make up for the lapses in inspiration that keep their feature debut from being a truly good movie and potential cult piece.
As with Richard Lester's Hard Day's Night, Spice World is about a few days in the collective life of the all-female British group; and the banter is suggestively representative of how the Girls all speak to one another.
High marks, as ever, to the Spice Girls themselves for sheer nerve, and especially to Posh, who, when she opens her mouth, reveals herself to be about as posh as the Artful Dodger.

But if the Spice Girls have anything to say about it, their clock should be extended a few extra minutes with the boost of their new film "Spice World." However, the film is not the farce and spoof it should be, and at times it takes itself way too seriously.
"Spice World" has only a taste of that, which is when the film is truly enjoyable and tolerable.
One attribute that the Spice Girls do bring to the film is that no matter how annoying their personalities may be, their music is catchy.

In fact, a "secret" spice world has flourished for centuries, and is still cultivated by many cultures and modern-day herbalists.
Today, we have whole spices, ground spices, seasoning blends, which may be a combination of several spices and several forms, and spice extractives.
Spice extractives include essential oils (volatile aromatic fractions); oleoresins (derived by solvent extraction of the whole spice, including volatile and non-volatile fractions); liquid solubles (oleoresins plus solubilizing agents to create a liquid seasoning); dry solubles (oleoresins plated on a dry carrier); encapsulated spices; standardized oleoresins; and WONFs (essential oils plus other natural flavoring materials).

Mutant Reviewers from Hell do "Spice World"
Spice World, along with The Doom Generation and Ernest Goes to School, was part of the 3-Pack of Less Than Top Notch Quality Movies we got from J's local video store while I crashed at this place.
First, although the Spice Girls' popularity has dwindled in the past couple of years, I can clearly remember throngs of teenage girls wetting their undies and screaming at tones suitable for pulverizing blocks of granite in the not-so-distant past, and all because of these five (now four) chicks.
The most frustrating aspect of Spice World is that between wanting, REALLY WANTING, to slap these girls, there are instances of humor and admirable weirdness that keep it from being a total wash. For instance, Meat Loaf drives the girls' bus.

Spice World Movie Review   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-18)
Consistent with the down-to-earth image that the Spices' have created with their numerous MTV appearances, this movie is an often self-deprecating look at the group, playing up on the personalities of each member, such as Baby's bubbly ditziness or Posh's fashion-obsession (which gets her the best lines and visual gags in the movie).
Another hallmark of the Spice phenomenon is seen in their music, a fusion of retro-riffs and contemporary musical chic to produce the distinctively bouncy and radio-friendly Spice Girl sound.
"Spice World" also reflects this approach, pandering to its media-savvy audience with an often self-reflexive (à la "Scream" and "Scream 2") plundering of the cultural constructs of the past three decades, sometimes to great effect (I was totally sprung on "Spice Force Five") and sometimes not (such as the Hercule Poirot daydream sequence).

Yet spices were considered vital necessities in the practice of medicine, in unguents and aphrodisiacs, in holy oils, and in the rituals and magic rites of many religions.
There was also an appreciation of the role spices could play in food preservation, in retarding rancidity or the deterioration through oxidation, as, for exam- ple, the use of peppercorns to entirely coat hams and brined meats.
Europeans knew where the spices came from, and if there were a way around Venice and around the Arabs, there would be vast profits to be won; profits, as it later developed, that would run as high as 700 percent or even 1200 percent.

 SPICE WORLD
Comedy: The Spice Girls, a British pop group, try to break free of the daily monotony of being themselves as they travel around touring and performing their songs.
Storming out of her Majesty's land and across the world with their first two albums, they've been called the next big thing and have been compared to the Beatles (but so was the 1970's band "The Knack" -- c'mon you remember them, don't you?).
Beyond the Spice Girls playing themselves, the rest of the performers play nothing more than caricatures (and not much more is expected from the cast in a film like this).

The Spice Girls certainly put their money where their motto is. When they get into a tiff with their manager over their professional priorities, Scary spits out, "Self-respect, freedom and friendship are more important than a gig!" And when Spice friend Nicola is in labor, the girls are right at their pal's bedside.

 Spice Pages: Saffron (Crocus sativus)
Saffron is the most expensive spice in the world (anything below 4 € per gram is suspiciously cheap; explanations range from “probably smuggled” to “probably not saffron at all”).
Saffron is rather unique among spices in that its main aroma and colour components are water-soluble; therefore, the stigmata may be soaked overnight in water, filtered and the water then added, which gives a pure and homogeneous colour.
Using the dry spice (whether ground or as a whole) directly for cooking is not favourable, as it releases its fragrance too slowly, and prolonged cooking should be avoided for loss of aroma.
