Spinner (fishing) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A spinner is in terms of sport fishing, a lure designed to make noise underwater in order to catch the fishes' attention instead of mimicking food.
The build of a spinner consists of a metal pin with a dish around it which will make niose when water is flowing by due to the fishing line being reeled in, almost like a fan or turbine.
Below the dish metal weighs are placed in order to make the lure sink and to keep the dish from getting stuck in the hook which is placed at the end of the pin.

The Ins and Outs of Spinner Fishing
A spinner rig is basically a hook with some beads on the line above it, and a clevis and spinner above the beads.
Since we both like to fish spinners, a meeting was held with one of our supporters, Blue Fox, and we developed a spinning rig that would remedy the problem of line wear and while we were at it we discovered the new rig would also have better blade action and hooking ability.
When the fish are suspended the typical application consists of letting out three to six feet of line, attaching a snap weight to the line, running out enough line to get the spinner at the right depth (this takes some experimenting), and attaching the line to the board and getting everything into position.

Many night feeders and fish that spend their whole life in dark, or silted waters have developed highly sensitive smell and taste organs on the outsides of their bodies but they must be down current from the food in order to smell or taste it.
Migrating fish like Shad or Salmon have eye receptors readily adapted to see green in the ocean and red during spawning, but will strike spinners and lures of any color if they can be seen.
Also when others around you are catching fish and you are not it is nice to be able to spy and see what kind of fishing tackle, lure, spinner or bait they are using.

The spinner consists of a propeller like spinning blade, a plastic squid-like or tube body, and a hook at the end.
While the blade is spinning the entire spinner has incredible action produced by both the flash of the blade and the Squidy life-like movements.
Similar to other inline spinners, one will get line twist and sometimes the best way to minimize this is to put a high quality barrel swivel between your line and the lure with the help of a short leader.
