		Spirit Airlines is a United States low-cost airline operating nationwide scheduled and charter flights.
		Spirit Airlines began in 1980 as Charter One, a Detroit-based charter tour operator providing travel packages to entertainment destinations such as Atlantic City, Las Vegas and the Bahamas.
		Spirit Airlines is one of the worst US airlines and the second worst airline in the world, after Cubana.

		The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati this week reversed a 2003 ruling by U.S. District Judge Gerald Rosen dismissing the lawsuit that Miramar, Fla.-based Spirit filed in 2000.
		The appeals court sent the case back to Detroit federal court to determine if Northwest broke federal antitrust laws to drive off competition on those routes.
		Because Northwest filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, Spirit would need the approval of U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Allan L. Gropper in New York for the case to go to trial.
