Speaking as a medium who trained in a Spiritualist Church, I can reassure you that the churches are the most friendliest, welcoming places that you can find.
The most important thing about Spiritualist churches is Celtia, that the mediums booked, and the church's own resident mediums (of which I was one at Hounslow) are very highly trained people with a natural gift.
Spiritualist churches in my experience are friendly place however some are well run and some are badly run, sometimes you will find a little power struggle going on with members but for me it's a good experience.
