Well, it’s hard to say whether it gives Wave Race its comeuppance, but considering that Rides Gone Wild has improved on its predecessor (which itself was already a pretty good game to begin with) in most every meaningful way, whether or not it is superior to Wave Race is irrelevant.
There are three tiers of tricks (and over 75 ticks in all), and performing them has an immediate affect on your craft’s capabilities—doing tricks increases your Sea-Doo’s “Performance Meter,” and the more complicated the trick the higher the meter goes.
While the logic behind it may be nonexistent (why would doing tricks and missing buoys effect the performance of a water craft?), it still adds a nice amount of strategy to the racing.

For those that are sick of hearing about incredible water effects, avert your eyes for a sec; Splashdown has simply the best water I've ever seen in a video game.
We found the easy mode to be a little TOO easy (we beat the game in just over an hour this way), but the normal mode is pretty challenging and ads an additional 8 tracks to the Circuit for a total of 20.
Splashdown should keep you happily dreaming of fun in the sun through the cold dark winter.

In many ways I enjoyed Splashdown better than Wave Race, and now that the game has been released for the Xbox and I have spent the past month working to master it, I can definitely say that it is a good title.
I can also say that during the heat of the day, playing a game like Splashdown will make you feel cooler (although be aware that playing a personal watercraft racing videogame does not actually enhance your "cool").
Splashdown has you racing Sea Doo jet skis on 20 different courses, varying from Lake Powell in Utah to indoor tracks in exotic locales.
