Then made the control rods and used bellcranks for the turn on the aileron and a bellcrank for the turn and reversing of the spoileron.
Spoileron and aileron in the neutral (level flight) position.
The spoileron goes down even with the top surface of the wing (closed) and the aileron goes to the neutral position; then the spoileron stays in the closed position and the aileron goes to the down position.

 Fox Models - 3D Guide
Spoilerons are simply a two servo aileron setup using the ailerons as flaps as well, except that the flaps go up instead of down.
Spoilerons are often used on funfliers to lose height or speed quickly, on landing to prevent bouncing or in spot-landing to suddenly lose height and land when over the spot.
Spoilerons are essentially the ailerons of the model set up as flaps but both ailerons going up when the spoilerons are activated.

(1-100:+1)for the right wing spoilerons; (-100--1:+1;-1-100:0H) for the left wing spoilerons; (-100-1A) for the left wing spoilers, that are associated with the spoilerons; (-1-100A) for the right wing spoilers associated with the spoilerons.
Notice now, that neither spoileron/ ailerons are shown at all when the ailerons are neutral, and each respective one is not shown anytime that the ailerons are moving in the down direction.
Overall, you still have spoilerons, and you have your spoilers, and the only time that you are not 100% correct is when you have both deployed at the same time.

3DRC.info : The new online guide to Performance Aerobatics   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
Using very little spoileron is usually better as this generally makes the effect of washout towards the tips., however, more deflection can be used to accelerate descent.
We highly recommend that spoilerons are used on a sprung switch, or at the very least, one that you can press and let go of very quickly.
If you get into trouble and have the spoilerons locked in it may be very difficult to recover due to a lack of lift from the wing.

 User Manual ATOS C
Caution: pulling on the spoileron cables should not move the surfaces; they can be actuated only through moving the control bar or the wing.
This consists of a cable between the spoileron cable and the keel, which limits the travel of the spoileron cable.
The spoileron steel cables which connect to the control frame, and which double as front control bar cables, must be replaced every 100 hours, and should be checked for wear and function prior to every flight.

How do you deployed your spoileron? Mytus or all other 2 servo wing type sailplane - RC Groups
Aileron servos are on 1 and 5 with spoilerons on a right three position switch as well as on throttle.
Full spoileron is again somewhat less than full servo defection to give some up aileron at full spoileron defection.
There is probably a little flair when deploying spoilerons but it is so mild or easily corrected I don’t seem to notice it.

R/C Sailplane Glossary   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
Like flapperons, spoilerons are on the trailing edge of the wing, but move upwards to 'spoil' the lift.
Spoilerons are useful to 'scrub off' extra lift for more precise landings or to increase the ability to make quicker turns.
When a plane is inverted, the spoilerons are now flapperons, so typically, flapperons and spoilerons are usually present on the same plane.

Careful with that spoileron switch - RC Groups
This is how you slow down, full spoileron and up elevator to slow down to land.
One more point, spoileron needed to be up at least 70 deg to be effectiver as spoiler.
Fot example, you are coming in and short, you can close a little bit of the spoileron to extent the glide.

Three ribs on one side were cracked as they hit the tree, and the rib that held the right ride spoileron was cracked and separated in two places from forces hitting the spoileron.
If the pilot holds the control frame steady, and a wing rises (which the pilot can't stop at first), the spoileron is deployed, which should cut down on the lift generated by the rising wing, and send it back down.
After the spoileron is deployed, the limiter rope engages, and then the wing stops rising as long as the pilot can control the control frame and keep it steady or move it against the movement of the wing.

Make the wing out of high-quality balsa and ply, and cover it with transparent Ultracote Lite so that the airplane is both pretty and easy to repair should you ever accidentally ding the wing.
When landing, if you have the ailerons work as spoilerons, you can kill the lift that would otherwise cause the glider to float down the runway.
Many modelers who fly sailplanes without spoilerons have lost them during efforts to avoid the powerful lift of large thermals.

 ATOS
Like its smaller sibling, the ATOS V, this glider is a refined D-tube, control bar activated spoileron, carbon fiber rigid wing with some pretty amazing numbers.
Although one controls it in the same manner as a flex-wing, it is the deflection of the spoilerons that initiates turns rather than weight shift; essentially, it's like having power steering.Thermalling is made easier thanks to the light roll pressure afforded by the
spoilerons; getting into a thermal requires less effort than a typical high-performance wing and no high-siding is necessary to stay in.

Spolierons - Radio Control Airplanes   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
My two radios are not computerized, but I build microcontroller circuits for fun (I have no life.....) and have found a very good mixer circuit.
The manual is a little unclear on how to make spoilerons work, but it mentions mixing aileron to elevator and elevator to aileron.
It is advantageous to mix in some up elevator to counteract the nose down effect of spoilerons but by no means essential.

Aeros - Creating a Rigid Wing   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
Spoileron creates drag and reduces lift power on the respective wing in the direction of the turn, and also creates nosing-up.
Benefits of ailerons in all flight modes are apparent, nevertheless in the world there was a number of projects and attempts to create a rigid wing with ailerons that failed.
Choosing the second variant, we certainly were well aware of the hazard of risk and of the fact that we could quickly produce a glider with spoilerons and take our place at the market, getting money for further development.

I was told to fly in with a light touch as the Stalker engaged the ailerons with the slightest touch of the control bar.
In addition, the ailerons are a bit more progressive in their action, than spoilerons, which tend toward an either on or off control.
Most likely you will pull the spoileron up quite a ways to spoil the lift and initiate the turn, so they've gone from off to almost full on.

With a spoileron rigid, I'd say immediately pull the bar in hard and keep your body centered on the bar.
But, with a spoileron rigid, low siding would deploy the low spoiler which would give you more drag on that side and tend to keep you spinning.
Being intimately familiar with the Genesis design I can tell you the spoilerons are there to dampen the adverse yaw from the ailerons.

 RC Hangout - TT trainer 60 w/flaperons!
This time it flew streight and true with the flaperons down but you couldnt hardly notice the difference between when they were nuetral or down untill you started slowing it down....it just kept going slower and slower untill it was hardly going forward in only 10mph wind.
Then it was time to try the spoilerons (the radio has a 3 position switch, up for spoilerons, center for ailerons, down for flaperons) But the were pretty boring to.
I also did some messing around with the spoilerons and with those up i can flair the plane out a lot further than i could with regular ailerons.

I guess the stress of the situation, made worse by the barbed wire fence that he was heading towards added to the likelihood of a bad landing.
The Velcro that attaches the spoileron to the sail does wear with use and should be replaced if it is no longer firmly attaching the spoileron.
As was pointed out, with a number of these gliders on the used market, the new owners may not be aware of the potential for this happening.

 ASK DJ Aerotech Question
The flaperons can be deflected downward considerably for increase in drag for slower, steeper, controlled decents.
With large amounts of reflex(sometimes called "spoileron" function) the decent is very fast and flat.
Since there are no separate flap and aileron control surfaces, "crow" mixing is not an option.

The KYOSHO VIENTO - A 2 Meter High Performance Electric ARF Sailplane with Ailerons
In my setup now, The Spoileron off position is the rear position on the flap switch.
Pulling the switch forward to the center position gives half deflection up on the spoileron deployment, while pulling the switch forward to the front position gives full deployment.
When the Spoilerons are deployed, the sailplane goes into a more nose UP attitude, and the drag really slows this ship down nicely, while still leaving it very managable.

There are two ways to activate the channel 2 to channel 6 mixing either by activating the Flaperon function or activating the Spoileron function.
Either of these methods will give you the desired aileron channel mixing; however the spoileron function will give you a very screwed up throttle stick!!
Anyway, this is what I found to be the case in my RD6000 they may have "fixed" or changed things for the RD8000.

Spoileron Servo Matching   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
The travel adjustments were matched visually witht eh servos side by side, in the aileron mode they center and deflect properlly, but when I activate the spoilers one travels farther then the other, and despite my best attempts I don't seem to be able to change this.
Well, I just had a friend bring over his set of 625MGs and I tried different servos with the same transmitter settings, It looks like its the Servos.
The problem comes when you try to match the 2 sides exactly one at a time and you can't see them side-by-side.

The worlds was the first chance I'd had to see the current crop of spoileron class 2 gliders perform alongside the best class 1 wings.
My impression was that the better spoileron planks did have a slight edge on glide, and also in climb in the smooth thermals, but the climb advantage was easily lost with too much pilot input, and this was always the case in the rougher or more crowded thermals.
When things became desperate and we were in and out of the rocks and trees the planks really struggled and lost out - the sort of conditions that paragliders claim to win against us!
