The Ducati was sold on the day I took these photos to finance his next project, a Spondon GSXR1100 in a full race frame with a motor tuned to produce somewhere in the region of 170 b.h.p.

The SERA Fleet Spondon loco Number 1 at the Coventry Railway Centre
The loco was employed to haul trains of coal delivered to the main line yard at Spondon LMS/BR station along a mile long branch to the power station and shunt wagons as required.
The first was when the power station became part of the nationalised CEGB in 1948 and the second a few years prior to the end of the locos working life when the CEGB sold the power station to a private company by the name of Courtaulds.
It was this second change of ownership that heralded the end of the electric locomotive operation at Spondon as the firm already owned a fleet of diesel shunters on an adjacent site it was soon found more economic to use the diesels at both sites, thus displacing the three Spondon electric locomotives.
