The sponsorship scandal, "AdScam", or Sponsorgate is an ongoing scandal that came as a result of a Canadian Federal Government 'Sponsorship' program in the Province of Quebec that was originally rationalized as an effort to raise Canadian patriotic sentiments to counter Quebec Sepratism.
The scandal that emerged from the discovery of illicit and even illegal activities within the administration of the program involving misuse and misdirection of funds that were intended to go to government advertising in Quebec.
Sponsorship is a means to achieve this, by somply and with compassion, holding a space open for a person, a safe space that they can enter and explore and test out their feelings without judgement.

The sponsorship program was originally conceived in 1996 and was a response to a referendum in 1995 in which Quebecers voted narrowly against a proposal to separate from Canada.
Martin, who was Finance Minister from 1993 to 2002, has insisted the scandal was orchestrated by a very select group of individuals, particularly within Prime Minister Chrétien's inner circle and that he had no knowledge of their actions.
However the scandal affected, in part, the collapse of Prime Minister Paul Martin's minority government in Canada on November 28, 2005 the opposition, forced an election a month earlier than the report is scheduled to be released, January 23rd 2006.

Prime Minister Paul Martin claims he didn't know what was happening, even though he was the finance minister, vice-chair of the Treasury Board, and a senior Quebec minister--basically, the one signing the cheques.
Frankly, I think if Paul Martin and the Liberals were serious about fixing this scandal they'd give back the $300,000 of our money they got in corporate kickbacks from the ad firms.
I also find it strange that then-Finance Minister Martin said he had no money for healthcare or tuition cuts or a national child care program but he had hundreds of millions to waste on this.
