A sportscaster is a member of the media and/or AP, who specialises in reports about sports.
Generally speaking one or two sports casters say comments during a live sports event on the television, usually with their analysis of the game, and obscure statistics that at first glance appear to have little if any relevance to the actual performance of the players.
Sportscaster is a derived term from sports broadcaster.
