  Chronology of North Dakota History
Military occupation of North Dakota began with the establishment of Fort Abercrombie on the Red River and the present-day town of Abercrombie; the fort was abandoned in 1877.
North Dakota was admitted to the Union as the 39th state on November 2, and a State Constitution was adopted in October.
North Dakota's wheat crop was the largest to that date and the Legislature passed laws outlawing the death penalty except in cases where prison guards are murdered.

 Spring Creek Ranch v. Svenberg, 1999 ND 113, 595 N.W.2d 323
We hold whether Spring Creek made a reasonable inquiry to locate the addresses of the mineral interest owners is a question of fact and inappropriate for summary judgment disposition.
Spring Creek argues it is undisputed the only addresses of record in the Bowman County Register of Deeds office for Svedberg and Lundeen were in the warranty deed dated December 28, 1950; those addresses were Los Angeles County, California and Sedgewick County, Kansas, respectively.
Although Spring Creek contends a search of the register of deeds office was the only search necessary under the statute, an affidavit of service stated Spring Creek had checked the records at the office of the Bowman County Sheriff, the Bowman County Auditor, and the Bowman County Treasurer for Svedberg's and Lundeen's last known addresses.

Identification and Control of Purple Loosestrife
Lythrum plants were brought to North Dakota for flower gardens because of their striking color, ease of growth, winter hardiness, and lack of insect or disease problems (Figure 1).
Known purple loosestrife infestations in North Dakota are small and generally found in or downstream of urban areas.
Purple loosestrife was added to the North Dakota Noxious Weed List in 1996 and state law requires all plants to be removed to prevent this plant from becoming a major weed problem in the wetlands of the state.

NCTA: Explore the Trail- North Dakota
True, indeed; although vast strides have been made in the last few years, and the percentage of completed trail in the state threatens to overtake more populated and trailwise states, much remains to be done, and here, as elsewhere on the trail, the supply of public lands for trail development is running low.
Were it not for the Garrison Diverson route, a completed trail in central North Dakota would be difficult, indeed; as it is, it offers a certified route of 147 miles that is an easy though sometimes dry walk across public lands.
The result is a political hot potato for much of North Dakota; the hiker stopping in one of the several little towns along the route and admitting that they're hiking the canal route can expect to get an earful about it.

North Dakota power plant switching to coal from Montana - billingsgazette.com
North Dakota produced almost 31 million tons of lignite last year, most of which is burned in the state's seven coal-fired electric power plants and the Great Plains synthetic fuels plant near Beulah.
North Dakota lignite is usually 35 percent to 40 percent water, which makes it impractical to ship long distances to use as fuel.
Kennecott Energy Co.'s Spring Creek mine, which is near Decker in Big Horn County in southeastern Montana, will ship the coal to the Stanton station.
