Flying down the line we each splashed into the middle of the lake where we had to swim 100 yards or so, to the infamous large cargo net that was hung from another line across the lake.

The race was put on by Pickle Events and was a top notch event drawing a huge field of 438 people to the first year event.
It was tough to know where you stood during the race due to the random heats that were organized by race number.
Tish was 3rd overall and 2nd in the 20-29 age-group in 53:44, Mike finished 8th overall in 55:38 (5th age-group), and I came in 10th in 56:02 (7th age-group).

In the ladies race Ruth Welsh managed the fastest bike split of the day to allow her to overhaul Lucy Hall’s early lead.
The run section proved to be decisive in the men’s race with Andy Tarry completing the run in 16:44, the fastest time of the day, for an overall time of 52:10, Hywel Davis came second with an overall time of 53:39.
In the ladies race Ruth Welsh managed to hang on to top spot with an overall time of 1:03.36, Lucy Hall came second in 1:04.15 and third place went to Emma Gill, who posted the fastest ladies run time of 21:54, for a total time of 1:05.03.

The series was with the 410ci sprint class this year; I have heard the rumor that it may go to the 360ci engine limit next season.
And the final sprint car race of the year at Mercer will be the 5th Annual "Chuck Marsh Memorial", which pays $5,000 to win along with a good purse.
Hopefully the sprint series will produce figures comparible to that, which is very possible considering the way the schedule has been planned.
