CVG - Email to a friend
The concept behind this new GameCube 'toon-based Skateboarder is that Spumco is holding auditions for a new show called Hypergrind, and you're attempting to land the lead role by performing a variety of implausibly deranged stunts.
With 12 characters to choose from, each with a different array of moves, and a familiar control system to Tony Hawk's, what sets Go Go apart from the competition is the comedy angle.
While humour is very tricky to get right in videogames, the cel-shaded characters have all been put together by Spumco's whacked-out team of designers, lending them at this early stage a style and charm that many titles struggle to reach.

DVD Times - The Ren & Stimpy Show: Seasons Three and a Half-ish
With Kricfalusi and his studio, Spumco, out of the picture, Nickelodeon set about establishing its own studio, Games Animation, which continued to produce the show until mid-1995, when it was finally cancelled after both its quality and viewing figures had plummeted like an anvil in a Road Runner cartoon.
Indeed, a number of old Spumco concepts were still lying around during the third season, and by and large they tend to result in the strongest episodes, showing that even the sloppiest execution can't quite mask the quality of the ideas.
Not being as familiar with these episodes as I am with the Spumco cartoons, I am unable to confirm exactly which ones have been cut, but I did notice that the bumper cartoon that was supposed to follow the episode Lair of the Lummox was missing.

Spumco did some pretty amazing stuff with limited, TV-style animation when they helmed Ren and Stimpy, and they are continuing that tradition.
It also seems to be up to Spumco's sponsors, as the episodes usually end with a pitch from an advertiser.
On the opposite coast from Spumco's Hollywood digs is BerksAlive, an on-line cultural cyberzine from the Berkshire Valley in Pennsylvania.

Spumco, the creators of the Ren and Stimpy phenomenon, have finally come up with a new idea.
A sort of mock jazz/mock action musical score streams throughout the game, which has no effect on the actual game, other than to remind you that these guys are supposed to seem silly and unreal.
People who enjoy the Spumco phenomenon might all get some use out of this game, but monotony and aggravation could push gamers away from this title towards better-designed action games.

We all know that John Kricfalusi and Spumco did much to pioneer this development but I believe that the possibilities were first revealed by early fans of South Park, who found that they could up-and-download entire episodes of the series on to the Web.
Spumco has already struck again, making a deal with Harvey Entertainment Co. to resurrect their stable of comic book and cartoon favorites (many of which were first animated at Paramount-Famous).
Speaking of Harvey and Spumco, I predict that another hot trend will be the revival and resurrection of older cartoons, with radical revisions of others thrown in.

Ripping Friends, The (2001) - Review By DAILY-REVIEWS.COM   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
In the meantime, John K’s production company, Spumco, stuck mostly to web cartoons, occasionally venturing out to make a video for equally iconoclastic artists like Bjork or a couple of parody shorts of the "Jetsons" and "Yogi Bear" for Cartoon Network.
Of course, the images of missiles and bombs in the cartoon were enough to get it pulled from the air after September 11, but compared to Spumco’s glory days, “The Infernal Wedding” does not have the edge.
After all, the Spumco website is currently missing (presumably for retooling), there are promises of new "Ren and Stimpy" shorts and perhaps a "Ripping Friends" feature, and the Spumco team is still cranking out glimpses of brilliant work, like their “Ranger Smith” cartoons and their recent Tenacious D video.

As Spumco is wont to do there are sudden cuts to various parts of someone's body (usually Ralph's) engaging in sudden animations that make hidden corners of their anatomy do unexpected things.
It seems to be an advance for Spumco, if only because of the visuals they pulled off, and yet it lacks variety for such a length.
