Spy Hunter for PC Review - PC Spy Hunter Review
With Spy Hunter 2 only a few months away from hitting the console market, Spy Hunter's fundamentals are strong enough to have made the game enjoyable on the PC--but the graphics and the gameplay have been compromised too much in the transition.
The game features a multiplayer mode, though as if to prove that this mode is mostly just a frill, the game forces you to play through the single-player mode in its entirety before you can access it.
Though Spy Hunter lost some of its initial shine when it was ported from the PlayStation 2 to the Xbox and then to the GameCube, the PC version takes the cake as the worst-looking version of the game.

HD DVD Review: Spy Game | High-Def Digest
You'd think forty-plus years of James Bond thrillers and countless spy spoofs would have dulled our appetite for gadgets, guns and world domination, but with the recent success of the Jason Bourne series and the spy-like 'Ocean's Eleven' and 'Italian Job' flicks, the genre seems to be as hot as ever.
'Spy Game' was released during somewhat of a lull in the cycle way back in 2001, before all those films hit it big at the box office, and so may have been a bit too early for its own good.
I can't say that I will remember 'Spy Game' five years from now (or even five minutes), but with Redford and Pitt on board, and a fairly suspenseful third-act twists, it is at least worth catching for spy flick fans.

 Spy Game
While the story of Nathan's efforts to locate and free his friend is the primary focus of "Spy Game," the film is structured around Muir's description, to his Agency overlords, of his first and subsequent meetings with Bishop.
The structure of "Spy Game," though based in the "present" of 1991 and Nathan's last 24 hours as a CIA spook, is primarily made up with a series of flashbacks of the meetings between him and Tom.
The two-plus hour run time is not a problem for "Spy Game." Tony Scott keeps things moving at a brisk and steady pace utilizing the flashback technique to help build the relationships between Nathan and Tom, both platonic and professional.

After learning that Pitt, his well-trained "spy pupil," has been nabbed in China awaiting execution and with only 24 hours to neutralize the situation politically, Redford is called into a top secret CIA committee to spill what he knows about Pitt to a room full of armchair agents.
Though they play him for information, Redford's apt spy skills, attention to detail, and smarts kick into high gear, allowing him to patiently and covertly take control of the situation at hand without leaving the building.
Filmed and scored with a stylish edge, "Spy Game" teaches to all levels of the class (at times, sharper filmgoers will feel a bit patronized, while others may feel a bit confused).

 Filmtracks: Spy Game (Harry Gregson-Williams)
Spy Game: (Harry Gregson-Williams) One of the more highly billed action films of the late 2001 autumn season (that is, one that doesn't involve hobbits or muggles), Tony Scott's Spy Game is a return to the style of film and score that beckons memories of Crimson Tide and Enemy of the State.
The requirements of Spy Game would allow Gregson-Williams to explore additional elements that lie between those previously established genres, especially in the dramatic weight of the music that would be required for the project.
The middle portion of the Decca Records album for Spy Game, from tracks 6 to 13, is a remarkable collection of ethnic theme and suspenseful orchestral underscore that ranks highly in Gregson-Williams career, and convinced me that Spy Game is an album to keep.

There's plenty wrong with "Spy Game." The stars -- Robert Redford as a CIA caseworker about to retire, and Brad Pitt as his protégé, scheduled for execution in a Chinese prison -- don't have the authority to carry the moral weight the script intends.
"Spy Game" wants to be both a high-powered star blockbuster and to venture credibly into John le Carré's territory and the author's essentially realistic take on espionage and the moral compromises it entails.
Nothing in "Spy Game" matches the charge of the opening, but the various flashbacks are swiftly paced, and Scott maintains a nice tension as Redford tries to stay ahead of his CIA interrogators.
