Since September 2003 the author has been studying a square metre of rough grassland and the immediate surrounding area in his garden in the East Sussex Weald at Sedlescombe near Hastings, UK.
Just to amuse myself with a wheels within wheels conceit, when I was thinking about where to photograph the magazine I decided that I would put it in the Square Metre itself, thus the photo shows an article on a place in that place.
I thought handmade tiles might be a good idea so I went to see Aldershaw, a small tile-making business on the road to Hastings.
