Rules - Squash. 26/7/2002. Commonwealth Games
Squash was born within the grim walls of London's Fleet Prison in the early 19th century, when convicts took to hitting a ball against the wall of their tiny exercise yard with a racket.
A match is divided into five games, each of which is won by the player who is first to make it to nine points.
In squash terminology, the non-serving player is known as 'the receiver'.
