Squeeze - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Squeeze was a British rock music band that came to prominence in the New Wave period of the late 1970s.
Squeeze was re-formed to play a one night charity gig in 1985, with all five members from the 1980 Argybargy period -- Difford, Tilbrook, Holland, Lavis, and Bentley.
Jools Holland left Squeeze again in early 1990, and was not immediately replaced, the band using session musicians such as Irving, Snow, Steve Nieve, Bruce Hornsby and Carol Isaacs in his stead.

Squeeze never came close to matching the popularity of the Beatles, but the reason for that is part of their charm.
Squeeze began playing the thriving pub rock circuit, although their songs were quirkier and more pop-oriented than many of their peers.
Squeeze released their debut EP, Packet of Three, on Deptford Fun City Records, in the summer of 1977 and soon arranged an international contract with A&M Records, becoming the label's first new wave act since their disastrous signing of the Sex Pistols.

 Squeeze
An interesting sidelight to the Squeeze story is the solo career of fleet-fingered pianist Jools Holland, who cut several eclectic solo albums during the 80s and 90s.
I have everything Squeeze ever released on CD other than a live album and a couple of greatest hits packages, but I'm planning to review them slowly, so don't be too taken aback by the glib one-liners I offer in several places.
With remarkable serendipity, Squeeze got off to a start with a disco novelty song that turned into a moderate hit single: "Take Me I'm Yours," which is driven by a really annoying, robotic synth line that would have been worthy of the Cars.

Along the way the story uncovers the truth behind the brilliant but often fractious Tilbrook/Difford partnership, the formation of the band and subsequent line-up changes, gruelling tours, towering successes and disappointing failures and the inevitable rock ‘n’ roll excesses that are part and parcel of being in a famous group.
It is written in the narrative when dealing with the overall history of Squeeze, reverting to dialogue format for the detailed track-by-track analysis.
This being Squeeze, the likes of Gilson Lavis, Paul Carrack and of course the irrepressible Jools Holland also play significant parts in the band's musical development and all have their personal issues along the way.

DAN Divers Alert Network : Mask Squeeze
Mostly new divers get squeezed - they tend to be overwhelmed by all the skills they need to remember, such as buoyancy control and equalizing their ears and sinuses, all while being mesmerized by the mysteries of the sea.
They tend to have mask squeeze when they are concentrating on some new activity or focused in on a task which diverts their attention from clearing their mask.
Changing to a new mask or to a low-volume mask may also lead to mask squeeze, because the diver may not be accustomed to when to add air.

The squeeze utility can be used to distribute a complete Python application as one or two files, and run it using a standard interpreter kit (such as Python 1.4 for Win32).
squeeze compiles all Python modules used by the application (except for the standard library files), and packs them all in a single, usually compressed "bytecode package".
In this case, squeeze also generates a small bootstrap script (typically 300 bytes) which locates and loads the package file.

 Limits Using the Squeeze Principle
The Squeeze Principle is used on limit problems where the usual algebraic methods (factoring, conjugation, algebraic manipulation, etc.) are not effective.
However, it requires that you be able to ``squeeze'' your problem in between two other ``simpler'' functions whose limits are easily computable and equal.
The use of the Squeeze Principle requires accurate analysis, deft algebra skills, and careful use of inequalities.

Squeeze was a rare breed in the early '80s in that their success came primarily from their songwriting talent.
Formed in the punk environment of London in the mid '70s, Squeeze's songwriting talent quickly became difficult to overlook.
Sadly, Squeeze broke up in 1982, not long after attracting international attention with the success of "Black Coffee in Bed" and "Tempted." The original line-up got back together in 1985, and the resulting studio work demonstrated that the magic was still there.
