Sri Lanka's cricketers have launched a fund to help victims of the tsunami which has devastated the livelihoods of tens of thousands of people along the country's eastern and southern coasts.
Now the Sri Lankan cricket board has established a fund called Cricket-Aid, which will provide emergency relief and shelter to displaced families and orphans in the first phase followed by permanent housing for 200 families in the long-term.
Sri Lanka's cricket tour of New Zealand was curtailed last week so the players could fly home to injured relatives and help the relief effort while the International Cricket Council has organised two fund-raising matches to raise money.
