| | Chemicals leak into St. Clair River |
 | | About 42,000 gallons of toxic chemicals leaked into the St. Clair River near Sarnia, Ontario, on Sunday, leading officials to urge residents in some St. Clair County communities to refrain from cooking, bathing or drinking the tap water until it could be tested. |
 | | Patricia Spitzley, a spokeswoman for the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, said results of water-sample tests wouldn't be available until early this morning, and advised residents of Algonac, Ira Township, Marine City, St. Clair, East China Township and New Baltimore to call their water providers for updates. |
 | | Although the chemicals were flowing downriver -- into Lake St. Clair, the Detroit River and Lake Erie -- intakes were closed for plants that serve Marysville, St. Clair, East China Township, Marine City, Algonac and Ira Township, said Jeffrey Friedland, the county's emergency management director. |
