In 1770 St. Clair became a justice of the court, of quarter sessions and of common pleas, a member of the proprietary council, a justice, recorder, and clerk of the orphans' court, and prothonotary of Bedford and Westmoreland counties.
Clair was a member of the Pennsylvania council of censors in 1783 and was elected a delegate to the Continental Congress from November 2, 1785 until November 28, 1787.
Clair's Defeat, the "Columbia Massacre," or the "Battle of the Wabash." It was the greatest defeat of the American army by Native Americans in history.

Clair River is a river in central North America which drains Lake Huron into Lake St. Clair, forming part of the International Boundary between the Canadian province of Ontario and the U.S. state of Michigan.
The St. Clair River and its Lambton County tributaries in Ontario contributes 418 km² (103,210 acres) to the watershed, although this does not include the Sydenham River watershed.
The St. Clair River is listed as an Area of Concern (AOC) because of pollutants such as bacteria, heavy metals, and toxic organics, which had come from municipal and industrial discharges, urban and rural runoff, combined sewer overflows (CSOs), and contaminated sediments.

Clair River RAP priorities include contaminated sediment remediation on the Canadian side of the river, elimination of CSOs and SSOs on both sides of the river, elimination of spills to the river from "Chemical Valley" downstream of Sarnia, Ontario, and ensuring proper notification when spills do occur.
Studies have addressed the issue of foam on the St. Clair river and concluded that some of the foam observed on the St. Clair is a biologically derived phenomena which can be concentrated through a combination of limnological, hydrological, meteorological, and geographic factors (F. Kemp, City of Port Huron, personal communication, 1997).
The St. Clair River environmental problems and their causes were identified in the original RAP document published in 1991.

There were 13 spills of contaminants into the St. Clair River last year from chemical companies and other sources, a Ontario Ministry of Environment spokesman said Thursday night at a hearing of environmental groups in Port Huron.
Harrison Township environmentalist Doug Martz, who has been leading the fight to stop the spills in the river, said he was only aware of one discharge in 2003.
The letter was prompted by two major discharges into the river from Canadian industries since January, and several other minor spills in the last few weeks.
