Eligius also erected several fine tombs in honor of the relics of Saint Martin of Tours, the national saint of the Franks, and Saint Denis, who was chosen patron saint by the king.

One day Eligius came to the king and said to him, “My prince, I have come to ask a favor of you: give me the terrain of Solignac, that I may make a ladder by which you and I can both ascend to heaven.” The king willingly consented, and the Saint built a monastery.
Neither one became a monk, but Saint Eligius loved to visit the religious and spend a few days with them from time to time, to be edified by their regularity.

Actually, this video tape includes two of the first four episodes from the first season of "St. Elsewhere," the award-winning 1980s television medical drama that looked at the lives of the beleaguered staff and their patients at Boston's St. Eligius Hospital.
One of the reasons that "St. Elsewhere" got off to such a solid start was that creators Joshua Brand and John Falsey had a hand in coming up with the stories for each episode.
"St. Elsewhere" employed what we would call either an open-ended or serial format on stories, which was just a way of saying that a plot line could extend for multiple episodes instead...

St Elsewhere remains one of the finest things ever to happed to TV, but the episode where Westphal dropped his pants and mooned Ronny Cox, although quite entertaining and probably well deserved, put a tainted look on this show and character much more than it needed to.
St anybody wanted to know where the inspiration for St. Elsewhere came from, I could have taken them on an after hours tour of Boston City Hospital in the late eighties.
I looked up st. elsewhere and started to read the comments....and yes, i don't believe that it ever jumped, slow maybe, but the next day after the final episode and i finally got the meaning, i knew it was all worthwhile.
