Maurice Solignac, a deputy mayor of Saint Germain in charge of finances, is the canton councillor.
A small town developed around this Saint Germain monastery and the castle, which was built in the 12th century by Louis VI the Great.
"Laye" is also said to refer to the female wild boar, the "laie," in French.

If starting from the centre of St Germain-en-Laye at the railway station in the Place Christiane Farhier, take the first road right and then take the second road on the right at the traffic lights - the Rue du Pereire.

That evening, dinner was taken with host families or, for some members of the Jumelage, at the local restaurant of their choice in St. Germain-en-Laye or in Paris.
The President (Jack Roll) and past President (Lucy DeLaney) of the Winchester Jumelage, the President of the St. Germain-en-Laye Jumelage (Genevieve Parnier), and the Mayor presented speeches in whatever language seemed appropriate.
Others were with host families at the attractions of their choice in St. Germain, including the Maison where Louis XIV was born, the Claude Debussy Museum, the Claude Debussy statue, or the weekly open-air market.

The ‘Scottish Week’ was apt, as this year Ayr and St Germain-en-Laye are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the two towns being twinned.
On June 4th visits have been arranged to the Place St Germaine, St John’s Tower and the CCTV Control Room at the John Pollock Centre.

With the hope of donating a second edition of the statue to France, Charette next invited French dignitaries, including Mayor Michel Pericard of St. Germain-en-Laye, Debussy’s birthplace, to view the sculpture in Lowell.
The French were most enthusiastic about the proposal and agreed to prepare a site for the monument.
The second statue of Debussy (above) was dedicated at St. Germain-en-Laye in 1998 before a crowd of thousands.
