		St Leonards is a small village in the Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire, England.
		The village was founded in 1278 by the Bishop of Lincoln when, during his visitation to the parish of Aston Clinton granted William de Clinton, lord of that manor, the right to build a chapel on the site of a former hermitage belonging to Missenden Abbey.
		Today St Leonards forms part of Cholesbury-cum-St Leonards parish, though the local population has grown and St Leonards remains a separate village and one of four which comprise the Hilltop Villages Cholesbury, Buckland Common and Hawridge being the others.

		The hamlet of St Leonards in the extreme south-east corner of the parish lies over 700 feet above the Ordnance datum, but the village of Aston Clinton and a large part of the parish lies in the Vale of Aylesbury, its height varying from 200 feet to 300 feet.

		Following the dissolution of themonasteries the chapel fell into disuse until 1586 when Queen Elizabeth allowed services to be held there once more, for thelocal woodsmen, because Aston Clinton church was a good hour's walk away, and the long journey stopped them from getting on withtheir work.
		The chapel is timber framed and is largely of Fifteenthcentury construction, though some evidence of the earlier chapel remains.
		Today St Leonards continues to belong to AstonClinton, though the local population has grown and St Leonards is considered a separate village by local people.
