  St. Malachy
On the death of St. Celsus (who was buried at Lismore in 1129), St. Malachy was appointed Archbishop of Armagh, 1132, which dignity he accepted with great reluctance.
St Malachy set out on a second journey to Rome in 1148, but on arriving at Clairvaux he fell sick, and died in the arms of St. Bernard, on 2 November.
Malachy was canonized by Pope Clement (III), on 6 July, 1199, and his feast is celebrated on 3 November, in order not to clash with the Feast of All Souls.

 St. Malachy
St Malachy of Armagh's chilling prophecy was that the world would end with the death of the 112th pope.
Malachy did not foresee the names of the future popes, but rather a distinguishing trait, or an allusion to a country, coat of arms, or insignia - given in Latin - of each of the 112 popes that were to succeed Celestine II, who was elected in 1130.
St. Malachy of Armagh made a chilling prophecy in 1139 that the world would end with the death of the 112th pope.

 The Prophecies of Malachy
Malachy's legend is merely an allusion to his family name and is to be understood as foretelling that this Pope was to be one of the Scolari.
Malachy's prophecy concerning this Pope has two possible interpretations: Clement X was born at Rome and in July 1590 the unusual phenomena of the Tiber overflowing its banks is given in Moreri's interpretations of the prophecies.
Malachy's legend may be a reference to the Pope's armorial bearings which show a lion and a bird of prey both of which had the reputation of being insatiable beasts.

Malachy O Morgain(1094-1148)was an Irish priest and seer who foretold the identities of 112 Roman Catholic popes, from the reign of Celestine 11 in 1143 to the present time and beyond.

Some Catholic scholars insist that St. Malachy never saw the prophecies which bear his name, and the official Church attitude holds that they are a forgery dating from the 16th century.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Prophecy
The prophetic light, according to St. Thomas, is in the soul of the prophet not as a permanent form or habit, but after the manner of a passion or passing impression (Summa II-II:171:2).
The prophecy was quoted by Ambrose Lisle Philipps on the occasion of the reestablishment of the Catholic hierarchy in England by Pope Pius IX in 1850.
Malachy concerning the popes, is to the effect that his beloved native isle would undergo at the hands of England oppression, persecution, and calamities of every kind, during a week of centuries; but that she would preserve her fidelity to God and to His Church amidst all her trials.

Malachy's prophecies were printed in 1559 by the Benedictine historian Arnold Wion in his book Lignum Vitre, and the battle began over the authenticity and authorship of the prophecies.
The mottos presented by Malachy usually referred to the coat of arms of the pontiff, or to his birth place, or sometimes even his physical actions, and sometimes to major events that occurred during his reign as Pope.
In the introduction, have already dismissed the possibility of Malachy's legend being a reference to Matthew 24:5-29, and as I have said before, this may well be an allusion to the armorial bearings of the person to be elected.

Malachy was born in County Down about 1094, and died Nov. 2, 1148, in Clairvaux, France, but before his passing he left a reputation for clairvoyance that has withstood the test of time.
Malachy's prediction for the new pope — "Gloria Olivae," or "the glory of the olive" — was thought by some to be a reference to an olive-skinned cleric, perhaps from the Mediterranean or South America, or a known peacemaker, or even the Benedectine order, a branch of which is known as the "Olivetans."
Malachy was canonized by Pope Clement III, on July 6, 1199, and his feast is celebrated November 3, according to Catholic Encyclopedia, to avoid conflict with the Feast of All Souls.

Jon Christian Ryter -- The Pope's Funeral And The Malachy Prophecy
Malachy wrote that he was inscribing the pontiffs from Celestine II "...to the end of the world." In a vision the Holy Spirit revealed each future pontiff by his character, geographic or physiological attributes, or his coat of arms.
Although Malachy entrusted his vision to paper and gave the manuscript to Pope Innocent II for safe keeping, Father Claude Francois Menestrier, a famous 18th century Jesuit, claims the prophecies were actually written in 1590 by Cardinal Simoncelli to influence the election of the Cardinal of his choice as pontiff that year.
Malachy referred to him as the "Rosa Umbriae," or the "Rose of Umbria." Pius II—the second shortest reigning pontiff in the history of the Church was pope for only 26 days in 1503—was described in Malachy's prophecy as "De Parvo Homine" (from a little man).
