St Pancras station is a railway station in north central London, United Kingdom, between the new British Library building to its west and King's Cross station to the east.
St Pancras was built in the 19th century, and includes two of the most celebrated structures built in Britain in the Victorian era.
From 12 April 2004, trains have been terminating at an interim station occupying part of the extension which is being added to the trainshed to allow Eurostar trains to use the station when it becomes the London terminus of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, which is scheduled to be in 2007.

Guardian Unlimited Arts critics St Pancras station's facelift
In short, this is the plan: from 2007, St Pancras station, expanded from eight to 13 platforms, will be the principal London terminus for Eurostar trains scything through the North Downs, under the Thames and by means of viaducts and tunnels to North Pole Junction, the Regent's Canal and Barlow's train shed.
A revived St Pancras will lead on to the rebuilding and restoration of King's Cross station next door, and to the wider regeneration, already under way, of the local area.
All this is a formidable undertaking; but so, too, were St Pancras station and the Grand Midland when they were built in the muscular years of the Gothic Revival.

(The station was within days of demolition before a last-minute effort to preserve it succeeded.) High-speed rail might have finally razed St. Pancras, but instead it is giving the station new life as the grand London hub for 300-kilometer-per-hour Eurostar trains to Paris and Brussels via the Channel Tunnel.
Since it was completed 137 years ago, St. Pancras has survived the birth of the automobile, World War II air raids, and an appointment with the wrecking ball in the 1960s.
