Joseph County is a county located in the state of Michigan.
Joseph County borders Branch County to the east, Kalamazoo County to the north, Cass County to the west, and Lagrange County, Indiana to the south.
In the county the population is spread out with 27.50% under the age of 18, 8.90% from 18 to 24, 28.10% from 25 to 44, 22.50% from 45 to 64, and 13.00% who are 65 years of age or older.

The French settlement at Fort St. Joseph (present-day Niles), as well as the activities of area fur traders, kept white men interacting with Indians throughout the St. Joseph River Valley into the nineteenth century.
According to the 1838 Michigan Gazetteer, St. Joseph's prairies were "not exceeded for their fertility, by any in this or any other State." Once these claims reached the east, settlers headed west to homestead St. Joseph.
The difficulties and discomforts of reaching St. Joseph were only a prelude to greater problems during the county's early years.

The residents have agreed, and the abandonment and connection are scheduled for later in April 1998 (11).
On April 1, 1996, the Michigan Department of Public Health (MDPH) Division of Health Risk Assessment (DHRA), which carries out the work required in the cooperative agreement with ATSDR was absorbed into the newly-formed Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) as the Environmental Epidemiology Division.

It's camp was at Dowagiac, with the Honorable Henry Gilbert as the commandant of the camp, who was charged with the organization of the regiment.

St. Joseph County, Michigan is the most recent jurisdiction and the first in the state of Michigan to adopt Hart InterCivic's Anthem(TM) System for integrated public records management and automated indexing of documents.
The value of the contract is $200,000 and St. Joseph County was able to pay for the system with revenues raised through the Michigan Register of Deeds Technology Fund.
"St. Joseph is a pioneer in their use of technology and in seeking out available resources from the Michigan Technology Fund to streamline and further automate the Register of Deeds' office while providing meaningful upgrades in available services to their citizens."
