		Moving lights or intelligent fixtures were originally implemented in 1972, but the first computer-controlled stage lighting fixtures began to gain widespread acceptance in the concert industry in the early 1980's.
		Several different types of lighting instruments are used in the pursuit of the various principles or goals of lighting.
		Solid state dimmers can be controlled from multiple sites, or by a computer controlled by lighting desks connected to dimmers and, in the case of luminaires and other remotely-controllable fixtures, directly using 5-pin cable through which the DMX protocol.

		Walking into the hall, the audience was enticed by the various instruments set on stage: seven acoustic guitars in a semicircle around a chair center-stage, a grand piano off left, an upright tack piano stage left and an ominous looking pump organ up center; all mysteriously lit, foreboding of a unique evening to come.
		Hitting the wrong switches, lighting the organ when Neil was at the piano (or the guitars when he was at the organ), changing colors abruptly mid-tune, throwing Neil into darkness as he sang (more than once), and generally detracting from the show, rather than adding to it, was the only flaw of the evening.
		A fitting and stunning, end to the show proper was dealt out, as Neil returned to the upright piano for "After the Goldrush." A line change of '...look at Mother Nature on the run in the TWENTIETH CENTURY,' as opposed to the original 'in the 1970's,' again spoke of Mr.
