  Nirvana Album Reviews
The album’s other energy-blast is “Territorial Pissings,” which is about the only song on this album that could qualify as ‘punk’ (using the clichéd definition of “fast and aggressive rock song that speeds ahead so fast you’re ruining the seat cover”).
Before the release of their sophomore album, no one predicted these scruffy guys would become one of the biggest bands in the world, selling millions of albums, selling out all the venues and leaving their mark on pop culture (remember how even all those pop acts and 80’s hair metal bands suddenly restyled themselves?).
Also on the album are the melodic “Been a Son,” the early Nirvana-classic “Sliver,” the exciting b-side “Aneurysm,” and, for the completists, the garagey “Spank Thru,” one of the band’s earliest songs, and the album’s only ‘unknown’ song.

Stain is a 23 year old emcee//producer from Newcastle.
Growing up in the North East of England has given Stain plenty of references for his observational lyrics on everyday life there, as well as an upbringing which fuels the fire of his more personal pieces.
A record which is as much a sign of diversity in the local scene as it is a truly original mix of melodic beats, intense lyrics and technical showmanship.

I think Meyer's scripting is the problem — while faithful to the events of the novel, he softens the details and Roth's caustic tone, making some parts of the story (particularly Coleman's funeral) more palatable at the expense of their impact.
This is not to say that Portman's score lacks variation — her delicate orchestration and use of tempo ensure sufficient variation for the album's length.
And I realised that Portman's score was based very much around this idea — she is scoring the idea that is central to the story, the real human stain, the shame that causes men to bury the truth about themselves and others.

But between their second record and 'Stain' in 1993 would come the grunge movement, which was in many ways threatening on a band whose halmark was embracing varyious musical styles.
In many ways, 'Stain' is a departure from the previous two records - in fact, bassist Muzz Skillings had been replaced by Doug Wimbish, producer Ed Stasium had been replaced by Ron St. Germain, and the bright pop art of the first two records had been replaced by a stark image of an imprisoned woman-child.
This album is the darkets of the bands early phase.

The Human Stain (Soundtrack) by Rachel Portman
After scoring a plethora of comedies and dramas, she successfully rose to the challenge of accompanying a testosterone-charged war film (which was ultimately a courtroom drama).
With The Human Stain, Portman returns to her domestic roots, creating a very subdued, introverted and contemplative score.
Despite the presence of one main theme, the variations within are interesting enough to hold the listener’s attention for the short running time of the album.

The explosive "Auslander" was one of the album's best tracks, as was the melodic rocker "Leave It Alone," and the superb ballad "Nothingness," which deserved to be a hit.
Although some of the songs miss the mark ("Bi," "This Little Pig," etc.), Stain was another engaging release from Living Colour.
Although the album made the Top 40 and just missed going gold, the group would disband a year after the ensuing tour (citing "musical differences").

This album could easily have appeared on the Frontiers Records label because it has that melodic metal/hard rock sound with similarities to bands like Pink Cream 69, Royal Hunt, Ten, and classic bands such as Rainbow, Deep Purple, Magnum, and DIO.
The album manages groove and precision and the varying interplay between guitarist and vocalist is suitably impeccable.

The Rock Radio: Staind settles lawsuit over name
The Ohio-based Stainbrook and the New England quartet have sued each other repeatedly over the last few years, with Staind claiming in its last lawsuit that Stainbrook tried to re-register "The Stain" as a trademark despite the fact that the band purchased it from him in 1999.
Stainbrook in turn alleged that Staind and its representatives used unlawful conduct to obtain the rights to the name, claiming that one label exec falsely promised to help Stainbrook's career to persuade him to sell his trademark rights.
Stainbrook claims that his refusal to license the trademark previously led the band Lit to change their name from Stain, and also forced Sony Music to pull Living Colour's 1993 album, titled Stain, from circulation.
