"Stand!" is a 1969 song by the soul/rock/funk band Sly and the Family Stone.
The song's title and lyrics are a call for its listeners to "stand" up for themselves, their communties, and what they believe in.
The original mix of "Stand!" garnered a warm, yet unenthusiastic, reaction when Sly Stone had an early acetate of the record played in a San Francisco club.

"Stand By Me" is the title of a song first sung by Ben E. King and written by Ben E. King, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller.
The song was also used for a music video on the TV show, Timon and Pumbaa that was released in front of the Jonathan Taylor Thomas film Tom and Huck.
King's version was a Top Ten hit on the U.S. charts twice—in its original release in 1961, and a 1986 rerelease coinciding with its use as the theme song for the movie of the same name.

Acuff-Rose Music Inc. v. Jostens Inc.
CHIN, D.J. In 1990, the country western singer Aaron Tippin released a song entitled ``You've Got to Stand for Something.'' It contained the line, ``You've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything.'' The song was a hit and rose to number five on the national country charts in February 1991.
In marked contrast, Josten's ads extol the virtues of wearing a Jostens class ring as a means of ``standing for something.'' The Jostens class ring itself ``stands'' for the student's high school and class, the people the student knows, and the achievements of the student and her classmates.
Mellencamp's song was recorded, copyrighted and released as part of his Scarecrow album in 1985, long before the Tippin song was recorded.

Stand up should only be beyonce - Topic Powered by Groupee Community
When I listened to the song Stand up for love, it started out very subdued, and grew into this ornate musical endeavor, and in my opinion itwas all due to the vocal styling of Ms Beyonce.
If the song would've only been Beyonce I think would've been worse, 'cause all their 3 different voices blending together and complemanting eachother is one of the things that makes the song so special.
She was the most on pitch, and she gave the song a sense of direction and meaning on her parts.

Kurt Cobain's Last Stand - The crass, exploitative release of Nirvana's final song. By David Samuels
It is very difficult to hear the "new" Nirvana song as a song; instead, it's a clue—to the state of Cobain's marriage, or the reasons he killed himself.
The song begins with Kurt in one of his Gollum-like moods of dependence and resentment, tiptoeing around emotions that are bound to explode.
In earlier versions of the song, recorded live during Nirvana's shows and sound-checks of the previous months, Cobain had used a different line for "No thought was put into this"—the memorable but very Nirvana-like one-liner "I am walking in the piss." The change made the song better.
