In the 1682 the son of the Hetman gave Podhorce to the King Jan III Sobieski.
When in 1767 Hetman Wielki Koronny Waclaw Rzewuski was deported to Kaluga(Even in those days Poles were deported to Siberia) his son Leon sold Podhorce to the Prince Wladyslaw Sangusz.
The initiator of building of the castle in the first half of the 17th Century was Hetman Stanislaw Koniecpolski.

Koniecpolski chose to follow a military career, and in 1610 he took part in the Dymitriads against Muscovy, including the Battle of Kłuszyn.
During the siege of the Smolensk fortress on 8 July, 1611, the collapsing walls killed his brother Przedbor and Stanislaw returned to Koniecpol with his body.
In the autumn of the same year he rejoined the army and under the command of Grand Lithuanian Hetman Jan Karol Chodkiewicz, he took part in the effort to relieve and bring supplies to the besieged Polish forces in the Moscow Kremlin.

Born in family estate of Czarnce in southern Poland.
He learnt the art of war under Stanislaw Koniecpolski in the campaigns against Gustavus Adolphus (1626-1629) (part of the Polish-Swedish War), and under Ladislaus IV in the Smolensk War against Muscovy in 1633-1634.
On the May 16 1648 he was one of the many noble Polish prisoners who fell into the hands of Bohdan Chmielnicki at the battle of Yellow Waters and was sent in chains to the Crimea, whence he was ransomed in 1649.

From 1713 it was governed by Jerzy Stanislaw Sapieha, and after his death in 1732, his wife Teodora nee Soltan (died.
In 1755 the church burnt and in 1789 King Stanislaw August ordered the construction of a new church and gave extra land to the church authorities including salaries.
One was built in 1557, managed by Matys or Mateusz Baran, and was close to the town of Augustow.
