		At the time of Schauder's studies the chair of theoretical physics was for a few years temporarily occupied by an experimental physicist Stanislaw Loria (1883-1958), who probably would not have attracted the attention of the mathematically minded Schauder.
		Schauder's professors of mathematics were Stanislaw Ruziewicz, Hugo Steinhaus, Eustachy Zylinski and, since 1922, Stefan Banach.
		From Lwów came: Antoni and Zbigniew Lomnicki, Stozek, Ruziewicz, Zylinski, Banach, Chwistek, Kaczmarz, Nikliborc and Schauder.

	THE MURDER OF LWÓW PROFESSORS BY GERMAN AUTHORITIES IN JULY 1941
		Following the latter's instruction we timed how long it took the groups of four to walk down the rather steep slope, to be placed in line along the pit and to be killed.
		In my opinion, Bartel, Ruziewicz, Korowicz and Maczewski were shot and buried at some other place, probably on the Janowski Sands on Lwów peripheries.
		The exhumed bodies of the professors and other victims executed at the Wulecki Heights were immediately taken to the Krzywczycki Forest and on the next day, October 9, thrown on the heap of hundreds of other bodies and burned on a huge pyre.

		Sierpinski spoke of the tragic events of the war during a lecture he gave at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków (Cracow) in 1945.
		He spoke of his students who had died in the war:- In July 1941 one of my oldest students Stanislaw Ruziewicz was murdered.
		In 1943 one of my most distinguished students Stanislaw Saks was murdered.
