Stanitsa Starocherkasskaya is situated on the bank of the river Don, 30 km away from Rostov and 14 km away from the rayon centre Aksay.
Stanitsa Starocherkasskaya is a peculiar place of the Don region that has preserved its unique complex of historical and cultural monuments (there are more than 40 monuments in the area) that reflect the history and life of the Don Cossacks in many centuries.
The history of stanitsa Starocherkasskaya is inseparable from the history of the Don Cossacks which, according to Belinsky, “is a side river flowing in to the big river of the history of Russia”

He then remembered his parents with elation and sorrow, parents he had lost at an early age, he remembered his Aksai stanitsa, its gardens, the Quiet Don River, which at times flooded tens of acres under the Aksaisk hills, the blue panorama of the steppes.
