Capt. Mikhail Nikolaievich Staniukovich, commanding the sloop Moller, accompanied Lutke on his voyage round the world.
He made a survey of the north shore of Alaska peninsula in the summer of 1828.
The geographic results of this voyage were incorporated by Lutke in the Partie nautique of his voyage round the world.

Russia planned to send two warships to patrol its claims, but agreement on 54°40N as the southern limit of its American territory in 1824 obviated the need for such a military presence, and the ships were ordered to explore the coasts of Russian America and Asia.
Otto von Kotzebue returned to Kronstadt from his circumnavigation in Predpriyatiye on July 10, 1826, and on August 16 Senyavin (Captain Lieutenant Fedor Petrovich Litke) sailed in company with Möller (Captain Lieutenant M. Staniukovich).
(Staniukovich was to explore along the Alaskan coast but was lackluster in pursuit of his objectives.)
