	Stanley Myers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Stanley Myers (October 6, 1933 – November 9, 1993), was a prolific British film composer who scored over sixty films.
		Born in Birmingham, Myers went to the prestigious King Edward's High School in Edgbaston as a teenager, a suburb of Birmingham.
		Myers also wrote incidental music for a 1964 serial in the television series Doctor Who.

		Stanley Myers, who got his start in television with such series as Z-Cars and Doctor Who, was a fairly prolific and highly versatile composer who could score gentle classic moods as easily as rousing action sequences.
		He is perhaps best known for his music for The Deer Hunter, particularly the moving "Cavatina" (which has been repeatedly covered), but he is also notable for scoring a series of films directed by Nicholas Roeg, with the score album for Insignificance being very much in demand since its release.
		Myers' first feature composing credit was for 1966's Kaleidoscope, with Ulysses following in 1967.

		Myers is best known for his music from The Deer Hunter (almost always featured on Classical Movie themes or John Williams - the guitar player - plays the movies albums), but instead of his plaintive acoustic guitar writing, The Martian Chronicles is a strange mixture of synthetic bleeps and orchestra.
		Myers was apparently quite an experimental composer who liked and supported the use of electronics in music.
		Instead of framing the show with a familiar soundscape, Myers opts for a more eclectic approach, generally of modest proportions, emphasising flute, pan pipes (that represent the Martian civilization) and steely string, all combining to push the otherworldiness of the setting.
