I have been a longtime fan of the Star Fox series, so I was really excited when I heard the announcement of this new Namco shooter, because it was supposed to return to the roots of the Star Fox series.
But this is Star Fox, and one of its most famous traits is the cheesy voice acting.
Star Fox has always had a great theme, and personally I like the SNES one the best.

While there are Beta carts of Star Fox 2 floating around the likes of eBay for hideously high prices, the next true episode in the Star Fox saga would be unveiled on the Nintendo 64, featuring the revolutionary (at the time) rumble pak (which was bundled with the game).
In truth, Star Fox: Assault is the game many fans of the series have been dreaming of after they beat Star Fox 64 and were forced to endure the trials and tribulations of the rather craptacular Star Fox Adventures.
Star Fox Assault may not be the game that Star Fox fans were praying for, but it's certainly a step in the right direction.

Assault’s gameplay feels like the next phase of evolution for the series, but the major gripe is that the Story mode is very short (the Bronze level of difficulty can be cleared in roughly six hours, with Silver and Gold levels becoming progressively more challenging) and the story’s ending is a complete cop-out.
There are three different control schemes to choose from in Star Fox Assault: one that mimics the familiar Star Fox 64 controls, a second control method that uses both control sticks to move and aim, and another scheme that is a balance of these two.
There are no cut scenes or cinematics when Fox changes vehicles; everything happens in real time with a press of the Z button as he leaps from the Arwing and drops to the ground.

Star Fox: Adventures left all of the great things that encompassed Star Fox 64 behind and tried to become a typical action adventure game, and in my opinion failed miserably.
If I had to describe Star Fox: Assault in a few words it would probably be a mixed bag and I say that because there is so much good in the game yet there is so many things left to be desired that you just get a mixed bag.
Star Fox: Assault is a missed opportunity for the developers to resurrect the series, which means you probably should give this a miss too.

Star Fox: Assault has its heart in the right place and provides some entertaining moments, but it doesn't quite measure up to the pedigree of its namesake.
While Assault's plot is mostly irrelevant, it still sets the stage nicely for the multiple combat missions you'll be engaging in throughout the story mode.
If you recall Star Fox 64, half the fun of that game was to go back time and time again and try to increase your score and obtain medals, though that game wasn't encumbered by Assault's underwhelming ground-based combat, and at least it had some branching paths you could take to vary the experience.

It's a shame Star Fox Command had to pick up where this storyline left off, because they practically sent it spirally down into a sewage system that smelled of poor gameplay and storyline.
Star fox is ok in all, but i could not find a computer mode in the multiplayer section.
