Filmtracks: Star Trek: Generations (Dennis McCarthy)
Star Trek VII: Generations: (Dennis McCarthy) Sandwiched in between Star Trek VI and First Contact, this score has become lost in the transitory phase between the original series films and the next generation films.
In Star Trek VI, Cliff Eidelman constructed a dark and menacing base string and male chorus motif to signal the presence of the evil Klingons; his motif began the score, rumbled at the appropriate times throughout, and drove a section of the end credits.
Overall, I consider this the weakest of the "modern" Trek scores (and I consider the switch from traditional Trek scores to the modern ones occuring someplace in between Star Trek V and Star Trek VI, when the super surround-sound element of the films began to enhance the music).

Star Trek Generations -- based on the story by Rick Berman, Ronald D. Moore and Brannon Braga and on the original screenplay by Moore and Braga -- is a passing-of-the-torch tale that starts about a year after the events of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

Star Trek Generations review for the PC
Yet another Star Trek title reaches the shelves of software stores everywhere with claims of a great adventure and the name of its outdated movie title: "Star Trek Generations".
I think it was a fairly good adventure for Star Trek fans, and I must also comment that while the game had a very close tie to the movie's plot, it didn't stick to the movie so closely that if you've seen it, you've played it.
Generations does have plenty of original subplots that are unseen in the movie.

Star Trek Generations for PC Review - PC Star Trek Generations Review
Generations closely follows the plot of the movie of the same name, and as such, is able to incorporate copious footage from the film (some of which hasn't been seen before) and voice-overs by the actual actors, including Patrick Stewart and Malcolm McDowell.
As in most Star Trek titles, the production values in Generations are quite high, and the interface graphics, audio tracks, and noninteractive cutscenes combine to create a fully authentic Star Trek atmosphere.

All the best ones are even-numbered: Star Trek II was the highlight of the series, IV was goofy and likable, and VI was a fine adios to the crew of the old Enterprise.
The new Star Trek film isn't nearly as numbing as the 1979 movie that ushered the previous crew to the big screen; it's lean and purposeful.
I have no special feelings about Trek in general, and I think people who memorize Klingon conjugations and carry on vituperative debates over which episode is the best are hopelessly twerpy.

 Star Trek: Generations
There were only two ways for "classic Trek" cast members to appear in a movie with the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation: either Capt. Kirk and his contemporaries would have to be very, very old, or there would be some time travel involved in the plot.
Passing the torch to the Next Generation with dignity and entertaining adventure, the movie isn't going to please everyone with its somewhat hokey plot, but it still ranks as a worthy big-screen launch for Picard and his stalwart crew.
Long before Star Wars sparked an explosion of big-screen science fiction, Roddenberry had planned a second Star Trek TV series; the project fizzled, but its pilot script evolved into the first film in Paramount's most lucrative movie franchise.

 Star Trek Generations
After "Star Trek VI" Paramount decided it was time to retire the original crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise and graduate the cast of "The Next Generation" to feature films.
"Star Trek Generations" was touted as the film where the two captains, Kirk and Picard, would finally meet and share an adventure.
Paramount's DVD of "Generations" is very nice, but is obviously struck from the same master as the laserdisc (an accepted Paramount practice during the early days of DVD).

But, perhaps the biggest drawback for the film is that it bore the weight of being the segueway from the old cast to the new, so we have to sit through Picard/Kirk episodes that are only setups for his big death scene (I'm not ruining anything but telling you Kirk bites it).
After the stellar Paramount DVD release of Star Trek First Contact, expectations are high for Generations to live up to the same standard of quality.
Although Generations is a more subdued Trek film than some of the other entries, it is a great soundtrack and about the only complaint I have is the same I have with many action film soundtracks, which is that they often crank up the effects so loud, it obscures the dialogue.

 ToyBox@theLogBook.com: Star Trek: Generations
In pre-production for Star Trek: Generations, which premiered over the Thanksgiving 1994 holidays, a new costume design - rather a spiffy one, I always thought - was conceived for the crew of the Enterprise-D in their first film.
Aside from the Saavik figure released in the Classic Trek movie era series, these were the only characters to appear in the Star Trek II style uniforms, aside from a later "Picard from Tapestry" toy, which was actually a Picard head on the same body mold as Chekov.
The figures differed from virtually all of the previous Trek figures in one important respect: the knee and elbow joints were gone, sacrificed to cut down the amount of time that would be needed to manufacture more bendable figures.

It turns out he is going around blowing up stars near populated planets in an attempt to get inside this thing called the Nexus, where everyone is happy.
Two good things can be said for "Star Trek: Generations" -- the battle sequences in this film put even "Star Wars" to shame and it's nice to see a bad guy with purely selfish motives in a "Star Trek" story.

The plot holes are obvious and disconcerting, the sub-plots feel tacked-on, and the characters are both thinly-drawn and badly-played by actors well aware of the failings of the script.
