Star of the Sea College - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Star of the Sea College is an Australian Roman Catholic high school located in Gardenvale, Victoria.
Star of the Sea College was founded by the Presentation Sisters in March, 1883.
The foundresses, Mother John Byrne and Mother Paul Fay, named the school after Our Lady, 'Star of the Sea' when they moved into a house called Turret Lodge which had a clear view of a local bay.

Nat' Academies Press, A Review of the NOAA National Sea Grant College Program (1994)
Sea Grant was not included in the President's budget for eight years, in part, because it was viewed as a Congressional program of aid to states of unrecognized usefulness to NOAA and to the Department of Commerce (DOC).
At present, the magnitude of the tension among the Sea Grant partners, in particular between NSGO and the state directors, is counterproductive to the goals and objectives of Sea Grant.
Sea Grant's SBIR contribution comes from within NSGO's administrative funding cap; its contribution will rise to approximately $512,000 in FY1995 due to the increase in percentage and a NOAA-wide change in the way the SBIR contribution is calculated, if Sea Grant receives the amount of funding requested in the FY1995 President's budget.

Star of the Sea is a name that inspires confidence, the sort of jaunty, streamlined ship that any would-be seafarer would be proud to board for a swift cruise across the sparkling ocean.
But Star of the Sea is a hell-ship, barely seaworthy, carrying too many starving and pitiful Irish refugees from the great famine of 1847 in its hold, carrying too little food and fresh water, and numbering at least one fl-hearted killer among its passengers.
Star of the Sea, a daring novel by Irish author Joseph O'Connor, is an engrossing tale of many parts.

Star of the Sea by Joseph O'Connor - read review
The events which led to the famine, the people who were directly affected by it, and the steps taken to ameliorate or escape it are the subjects of Joseph O'Connor's intense and heartfelt novel, Star of the Sea, named for the British-owned "famine ship" which is the center of the action here.
For O'Connor, the Star of the Sea serves as a microcosm through which he presents men and women of different social classes as they cope with the 27-day journey to America.
His first novel, Cowboys and Indians, was shortlisted for the Whitbread Prize and his latest novel, Star of the Sea was short-listed for Irish Novel of the Year.

As Sea Grant is elevated within the NOAA structure, it is likely that some other reorganization will be desirable, shifting some responsibilities and fiscal resources among Sea Grant and the Line Offices.
Sea Grant's research apparatus and experience in education and outreach could contribute to the goals of these programs.
Sea Grant also has obvious potential interactions with the new NOAA Office of Sustainable Development and with the NOAA-administered National Coastal Resources Research and Development Institute because of Sea Grant's responsibility within NOAA for natural resource research, development, education, and outreach.

Mary Star blooms with cranked up, fuzzed out guitars -- no surprise considering the three-guitar assault of frontman Corgan and indie heroes Matt Sweeney (formerly of Skunk and Chavez) and David Pajo (formerly of Slint and Tortoise).
The album climaxes with the 14-minute "Jesus, I/Mary Star of the Sea" -- the first half is a re-worked hymn, the second half a modern-prog epic, swirling with psychedelic guitars and featuring some extremely technical drumwork from Chamberlain, whose importance to the album as a whole cannot be overestimated.
A few tracks, like the forgettable but pretty "Heartsong," slip through the cracks, and the whole album sounds like it might have been mastered at slightly too high a volume level, but overall, Mary Star of the Sea succeeds in bringing back something that most modern rock seems to be missing: a sense of fun.
