StarBand systems have a single polarity LNB: they can be set for either horizontal or vertical polarization by rotating the receiver LNB (or polarizer) on the mounting arm but will not select the polarity based on the LNB supply voltage of 13 or 18 volts like most other systems.
Because StarBand always references the VSAT’s transmit polarization to specify the polarization for each assignment, the StarBand polarization may be opposite of the receive polarization used in satellite charts such as LyngSat.

StarBand Set To Complete Debt Restructuring by Late 2003   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-16)
StarBand, which in mid-2002 filed for what is known in U.S. law as Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, is working with its creditors and the bankruptcy court to restructure its debt.
Zur Feldman, Starband’s chairman and chief executive officer, said in a Jan. 6 interview that he is confident the restructuring will be completed no later than late 2003 and possibly as early as the end of the first quarter.
Schaeffler said StarBand may be positioning itself for a possible alliance with, or even purchase by, a larger firm with the deep pockets and broad resources that could help StarBand or a successor company attract customers.

StarBand Ready To Emerge From Bankruptcy Protection
WASHINGTON — StarBand Communications Inc. is ready to emerge from nearly 18 months of bankruptcy protection by the end of November with a plan to generate positive cash flow by the end of 2004, the satellite Internet firm’s top executive said.
StarBand was able to cut costs sharply while in bankruptcy — in part by cutting three-quarters of its staff — and now is able to cover its costs with one-tenth of the 350,000 subscribers the company’s original business plan envisioned would be necessary for StarBand to be self-sustaining, Feldman said.
But he said StarBand is unlikely to be able to offer service for less than the $40 it now charges for its least expensive option for at least a couple of years.
