In 1917, counties were authorized to establish joint poorhouses and poor farms with other counties; and in 1919, a law provided that all poorhouses and poor farms maintained by counties be called county homes.
County homes were reauthorized only for care of infirm or chronically ill persons; counties were specifically forbidden from placing destitute but physically healthy persons in the county homes.

The Summit County ARES, under the direction of Bruce Ferry, AK8B - Emergency Coordinator handled all primary responsibilities for the event which involved nearly 4,000 marathon runners whose route was modified this year to begin and end in downtown Akron.

The names of these officers have been inscribed at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington D.C. and the Stark County Law Enforcement Officers Memorial located on the grounds of the Stark County Courthouse in downtown Canton.
Stark County Sheriff Bruce Umpleby has taken the public inspection one step farther.

Located in northeastern Neosho [NO] County, downtown Stark consists of the Stark State Bank, a cafe, Richwine's General Store, the Friends Church, the United Methodist Church, and a Post Office.  State highway K-201 connects Stark going west to K-39, and another paved road comes into town from the North connecting to K-39.
This nicely maintained school building is no longer a school, but is used for school reunions.  Each year on Memorial Day weekend, all classes come home and have a great time reconnecting.  The gatherings are always on Friday and Saturday with the Alumni Banquet Saturday evening in the High School gym.
The high school started in the present building in l929 and ended with consolidation with Erie in l967.  Classes K-8 continued through school year 1985-1986 before moving to Erie.
